Chapter 18
Ice-Cold Ceo, Crazy Love
Outside the auction house, Susan looked up at Ben and smiled with pursed lips.
âWhatâs wrong?â Ben raised his eyebrows.
Susan kept smiling. âI thought you werenât going to talk to me anymore.
Susan sensed Benâs resistance to her in the morning.
Ben felt even more uneasy, but his face was still cold. âDonât misunderstand. It was that driver who called Grandpa and said you were being bullied. Grandpa called me and asked me to come over!
Thatâs why I was forced to put aside my work and come here.â
While speaking. Ben became resentful about Susan being such a coward in front of others. âWhatâs with you? Youâre Mrs. Landor. How could you let that kind of person bully you?â
Wrong âThe driver?â Susan was stunned for a moment.
The driver who popped out from nowhere smiled awkwardly, âMrs. Landor, Mr. Landor asked me to follow you all the way, but I didnât want to disturb you, so I secretly followed behind to protect you.â
âIf this kind of thing happens again in the future, donât call me. Just tell the people in the auction house and throw the troublemaker out, understand?â Ben glanced at the driver.
âGot it,â the driver responded immediately.
âPeople of the Landor family are not cowards like you.â Ben glanced at him in disgust. âHow could Grandpa assign you such a taskâ¦â
As Ben was teaching the driver a lesson, he saw that Susan was still laughing.
Ben was speechless. âWhat are you laughing at?â
Susanâs eyes curved as she laughed. She took Benâs hand and said seriously, âBen, thank you.â
Her eyes were bright and looked even prettier than the moon at night.
Ben winced indifferently. âThereâs no need to say thank you. If people know that you, Mrs. Landor, canât even afford a few pieces of jewelry, they must think I am very stingy! So, Iâm here for my reputation, not for you. Next time, if you are still so incompetent, I will never help you again.â
âOkay, I understand.â Susan nodded, with a smile on her face. âBut I just want to thank you.â
Ben had no idea what to say.
A He felt like he was cold enough! How could Susan still smile so happily?
âOkay, if thereâs nothing else, Iâll go first.â Ben decided that leaving was the best option.
âThis woman doesnât seem to have a normal brain. If I stay with her any longer, maybe Iâm going crazy, too,â he thought.
âWait a minute. Susan grabbed his coal.
She didnât use much force, but Ben subconsciously stopped.
He turned around and looked at Susan with some disdain. âWhat now?â
you after Not minding his harsh tone, Susan said with a smile, âWell, I couldnât get in touch with what happened today, and I needed the help of the driver. As Mrs. Landor, if I donât even have my husbandâs number, wouldnât that be inappropriate?â
Ben was speechless again.
He raised his eyebrows and said, âGive me your phone.â
Susan handed over her phone immediately.
Ben quickly typed his number into her phone and saved it.
Just call this number if you need help in the future.â Then Ben added, âOf course, youâd better not call me because Iâm busy.â
âWell, donât worry. Iâm not one to frequently encounter difficulties.â Susan put her phone aside carefully.
Ben frowned.
Since his face was so scary, he believed no woman would fall in love with him.
But he vaguely felt that Susan kind of liked him.
He wouldnât allow that to happen.
He was destined to spend his whole life punishing himself, so he decided to distance himself from Susan because he didnât want to drag another person down.
He knew Susan should fall in love with a normal man.
Ben said in a plain tone, with his eyes darkened. âSusan, there is something I must tell you. I will never truly be with anyone in my life. You are my wife, and I will give you everything I have except for my love.â
A Câ« N MM BBBBB Susan gazed at Ben with her eyes widened.
43% 14:45 Benâs tone became even colder. âAre you surprised? Let me tell you a secret. The first wife I had, who was rumored to have drowned in the sea, did not actually die. I couldnât give her a normal marriage.
and she couldnât tolerate that kind of life, so she begged me to let her go. I agreed and let her leave.
People all think sheâs dead.
âIf you canât stand this kind of life one day, just tell me, and Iâll let you go.â
When he let his exâwife leave before, Ben felt relieved rather than sad.
But gow, Ben somehow felt a little uncomfortable when he said that he would let Susan go if she asked him.
He suppressed the feeling and looked at Susan indifferently.
Even if Susan liked him before, she should give up after she knew how cold and heartless he was to his exâwife.
But what he saw now⦠was actually Susanâs bright eyes.
You really are a good person.â Susanâs eyes were shining brightly.
Ben was shocked.
Susan looked at Ben with a look of admiration, saying, âBecause of this, it is said that you are evil to your wife and that you are suspected of killing your wife! Even so, you let her go to start a new life.
Ben, you are so kind.â
Ben was a little stupefied.
What Susan said seemed to be quite reasonable. âAm I really a good person?â he wondered.
Susan smiled and said, âBen, I know what you mean. You deliberately alienated me in the morning because you didnât want me to have any expectations of you. You donât have to do this. I wonât ask for anything that doesnât belong to me. Whether you love me or not, I promised to spend the rest of my life with you, and I will stick to my oath. Of course, if youâre tired of me, just tell me and Iâll leave you alone.â
Ben looked at Susan and a voice sounded in his mind. âOh my god. This woman must be crazily in love with me!â
Ben originally wanted Susan to realize he would never fall for her so that she would leave him alone, but she even said that she would be with him for the rest of her life. Ben didnât know how to deal with the situation now.
âThis woman is really stubborn. If I really ignore her, will she cry all day long? Thatâs not what I want.â At the thought of this, Ben had a headache.
âI have something to deal with! See you!â Not knowing how to face Susanâs bright eyes, Ben ran away as quickly as possible after saying goodbye.
Watching his back, Susan chuckled softly.
The soâcalled tyrant was gentler than she had thought.
Susan was in a good mood when she came home with so many jewels.
Despite receiving a call from Ben shortly after arriving home, informing her that he wouldnât be returning tonight, Susan didnât feel sad but wanted to laugh.
She thought that Ben was deliberately distancing himself from her.
But this time Ben seemed to be quite stubborn. He didnât go home for the following week.
Before Charlie wanted to call Ben and force him to go home, Susan received a phone call.
