Chapter 19
Ice-Cold Ceo, Crazy Love
It was a call from Jane.
In a gentle voice, she asked Susan to go home, saying that her family missed her.
Susan was touched.
Since she could remember, Jane had never talked to her so gently.
âDoes this mean that Mom actually loves me? Are they actually worried about me after I married into the Landor family?â With this thought in mind, Susan felt moved, so she agreed to go home for dinner.
She was only going to have a simple meal with her family.
However, when Charlie heard that Susan was going back to the Miller residence, he said, âThis is Susanâs first time returning to the Miller residence after the wedding! We must attach great importance to it!â
He turned around and ordered the servant, saying, âThere is a pair of nice bracelets among those jewels that Susan auctioned. Go get them! Also, fetch the sapphire necklace from my collection.
Andâ¦â
Charlie kept giving instructions, and Susan got dumbfounded by that.
She said hurriedly, âGrandpa, itâs going to be a simple meal. Thereâs no need for all this trouble.â
âNo. Youâre a member of the Landor family now, and I canât let people look down on you,â Charlie said firmly.
Helpless, Susan could bnly let the servants dress her up in luxurious attire.
âThese are gifts for your family. Iâll have a servant accompany you later to help carry them,â Charlie said, pointing to a pile of gifts in the living room.
Penelope was shocked. âDad, are you going to let her bring home so many presents?â
âYou know nothing.â Charlie didnât even look at Penelope, and he continued, âAnd the car is also very important.â
âGrandpa, there are so many cars in the garage. Any one is okay,â Susan said.
âNo! That wonât do!â Charlie firmly denied it. âJust wait. I will let you return home with grace. tonight.â
Seeing how spirited Charlie was, Susan thought for a while and didnât refuse. She just smiled and A responded, âThen Iâll follow your arrangements, Grandpa.â
Soon, it was time for dinner. Charlie asked Susan to wait at the door in advance, saying that the driver would come to pick her up soon.
Susan then obediently waited at the door.
Before long, a silverâgray SSC Tuatara stopped at the door.
Susan was a little shocked. She had seen a lot of luxury cars, and she knew the price of an SSC Tuatara car was at least ten million dollars. The one parked at the door was even a limited edition, worth even more.
âIsnât that a little over the top?â she thought.
When Susan was still lost in thought, the car window was rolled down, and she saw Ben look at her impatiently. âGo get in the car.â
âBen?â Susan was surprised..
âDonât misunderstand⦠Ben said.
Susan stopped him, âYes, I know. It was Grandpa who forced you to go with me.â
Ben didnât say anything. Although it was true, why did he feel something wrong?
Smiling, Susan got into the passenger seat and turned to him, saying, âThank you.â
âWhy do you say âthank you all the time?â Ben couldnât help but say.
âI canât help it. Youâre just too kind,â Susan said.
Ben wanted to tell her not to praise him again.
But after thinking for a while, he decided to remain silent.
âThereâs no point arguing with her,â he thought.
Seeing Susan coming back to the Miller residence together with Ben, the Miller family was. obviously confused and did not know what to do.
Carl was the first to act. He greeted Ben warmly. âMr. Landor, I didnât expect that youâd come too.
Susan, why didnât you tell me in advance that Mr. Landor would come with you?!â
Susan was just about to speak when Ben said in a cold tone, âWe are married. Is it strange that we come together?â
âNo, absolutely not,â Carl hurriedly replied. âDinner is ready. Susan, please invite Mr. Landor to join 1. us.
Susan pulled Benâs hand gently.
Ben showed her great respect and took a seat with her.
Except for the Miller family. Timothy was also present.
Originally, Carl was going to talk to Susan about something during dinner, but since Ben was also here, his plan had to be canceled.
Therefore, he didnât say anything else, only asking Susan and Ben to taste different dishes.
Jane also kept serving food for Susan, acting like a loving mother.
Looking at her parentsâ loving faces, Susan felt a little warm inside.
âAlthough they love Yana more, Iâm not completely ignored, right?â Susan thought.
After dinner, Carl took Ben and Timothy to his study.
Therefore, only the ladies were left in the living room.
âSusan, you must be feeling very pleased today,â Yana said sarcastically.
âIâll take that as your envy of me,â Susan replied nonchalantly.
âI envy you? Youâ¦â Yana wanted to retort, but Jane pulled her hand and then said softly, âSusan, your sister is young. Sometimes she speaks without thinking. Donât take it personally.â
It was rare for Jane to say such things.
Susan felt warm and shid, âMom, itâs okay.â
âI know you are a good girl,â Jane said with a smile. âAfter all, you and Yana are sisters. A little conflict shouldnât turn you into enemies, right?â
Susan also showed kindness and said, âYana is always my sister.â
âIâm glad you think so.â A somewhat embarrassed look appeared on Janeâs face: âNow, Yanaâs in a bit of trouble. Can you help her?â
âWhat is it?â Susan asked, a bit surprised.
Yana couldnât help it anymore. She said, âSusan, you know, Iâm going to get engaged to Timothy! I need some good jewelry right now. I think the ones youâre wearing are good. Can you lend them to me?â
D But after borrowing them, she might not return them to Susan.
Susan was stunned for a while. She couldnât believe Yana had her eye on her jewelry.
Susan said, âIâm just wearing them, but in fact, these belong to the Landor family. Theyâre not mine and I canât lend them to you.â
âYouâre wearing them, and that means theyâre yours.â Jane said, âI think Ben treats you quite well.
Susan. you should always remember it was your sister who gave you such a good marriage. Now that youâre doing so well, you should help her.â
âIt was Yana who gave me this GOOD marriage?â Repeating that in her mind, Susan pursed her lips and became a little frustrated.
She suddenly felt that the warmth she had felt before was totally fake.
âDid they really want to see me when they asked me to come home for dinner?â she thought.
Susan lowered her eyes and said indifferently, âI really canât help with that. Given Timothyâs wealth, it shouldnât be difficult for you to buy some jewels.â
âBut I want the best ones.â Yanaâs voice sharpened. âSusan, you competed with me deliberately at the auction! Otherwise, I wouldnât have come home with nothing.â, âReally?â Jane pretended to be surprised and said, âSusan, how could you do that? How about this, Iâll make the decision. Give all the jewels you bought at the auction to Yana, and Iâll make sure Yana wonât hold it against you.â
âYes, Iâll forgive you if you give me the jewels.â With Jane on her side, Yana became arrogant.
