Chapter 222
Ice-Cold Ceo, Crazy Love
Theresaâs voice suddenly became listless.
âDonât even mention it. My mom, in an effort to force me into matchmaking, has stopped eating. In defiance, I stopped eating too. Now, both of us havenât eaten for two days.â
Susan was taken aback. âYou canât go on like this, right?â
Theresa sounded a bit gloomy. âHow was I to know my mom could endure so much! My body is strong, I can hold out. But sheâs of an age, why is she so stubborn? Forget it, the more I talk, the sadder I get. I give up, alright? Iâll go check on my mom.â
âOkay, hurry,â Susan urged quickly.
Theresa left, and about ten minutes later, she returned with a howl.
âWhat happened?â Susan jumped.
Theresa, almost in tears, said, âI went to my momâs room and saw her curled up in bed, looking very uncomfortable. I felt sorry for her and agreed to the matchmaking.â
Susan nodded, âItâs best to calm the elder first.â
But then Theresaâs voice rose dramatically. âThe problem is, after I agreed, âmy mom excitedly jumped out of bed! And accidentally, she also shook out the bread she had hidden under the blanket!â
Susan was speechless.
Theresa was on the verge of tears.
âI literally starved for two days! But my mom? Her face looks even rounder than before! Susan, my life is so hard.â
Theresa seemed genuinely miserable.
Susan, though, couldnât help but want to laugh.
She tried to hold it back but eventually burst into laughter.
at Theresa, defeated, said in a tone of utter despair, âGo ahead and laugh. Iâm going to eat a full meal now, and then, Iâll go for the matchmaking tomorrow.â
âGo for it,â Susan said with a smile.
âWalt, Susan,â Theresa suddenly thought of something, her eyes lighting up. âAre you free tomorrow?â
Susan was taken aback, âI happen to be off tomorrow.â
âHow about you join me for the matchmaking?â Theresa proposed.
Susan was puzzled, âYou mean, join you in meeting Thomas? Wouldnât that be impolite?â
Theresa scoffed, âForget about politeness. You donât know, the first time I met Thomas for matchmaking, he brought along Monica. Monica was so snide and unpleasant. I thought she was just putting on an act and didnât make a big deal out of it. But later, I realized thatâs just how she is, and it started to annoy me. If Thomas can pull a stunt like that, why canât we? Susan, youâve got to help me this time.â
âHow can I help?â Susan asked, slightly embarrassed, âPlus, Thomas knows you as Rose, not Theresa.â
âItâs simple. weâll cook up a story, find some reason to know each other. All you need to do is sit there, join us for a meal, and prevent any awkwardness.â
Susan thought for a moment. It seemed harmless enough, so she agreed.
The next day.
Susan dressed casually, donning a hat and sunglasses, and set out.
She arrived.
the restaurant on time.
Upon entering, she looked around.
âSusan, over here,â Theresa waved from a table.
Susan hurried over.
Thomas was already seated there.
But surprisingly, he had brought another man with him.
What was going on here?
Susan was momentarily stunned.
Disguised, Susan wasnât immediately recognized by Thomas.
Theresa sat opposite Thomas.
Susan hesitated for a moment, then sat opposite another man at the table.
Once everyone was seated, Thomas quickly introduced the newcomer. âLet me introduce you all. This is my college mate from medical school, Allen. Iâm planning to open a private hospital and have invited him to work with me.â
Allen, a man from Ethopia, had black hair and black eyes.
He stared at Susan intently and said first sight.â
olly Whatâs your name, beautiful lady? I think Iâve fallen for you at Thomas, Susan, and Theresa were all taken aback.
Susan looked particularly displeased. She glanced at Theresa as if to say, âI thought we were just here for a meal?â
Theresa was also visibly annoyed.
âMr. Smith,â Theresaâs voice turned icy. âLast time you brought a woman to mock me, and now youâve brought a man to harass my friend. What exactly are you trying to do?â
Thomas was about to say something when Allen interjected passionately, âItâs not harassment. How can you call it that? The moment I saw her, it felt like an arrow struck my heart. Thatâs love! Ari uncontrollable feeling, the most beautiful thing in the world. How can you taint it by calling it harassment?â
Thomas glared at Allen and hastily explained, âMiss Austin, itâs not what you think. Personally, Iâm not interested in a relationship right now, but my mother has been pressuring me, so I reluctantly agreed to this meeting. However, I didnât want to waste your time, so I brought a companion to potentially set you two up.
âAllen, Miss Austin here is the one I wanted to introduce to you,â Thomas added.
Allen glanced at Theresa and quickly averted his gaze, saying, âI find myself more attracted to the other lady.â
He looked at Susan, his eyes revealing his intense feelings.
Theresaâs face darkened completely.
This Thomas, what a straightforward man!
forced to He was forced to do so.
It seemed that she was not forced.
He even found someone to set up for them. What did he think she was?
If sheâs the one desperate for marriage?
Exasperated, Theresa firmly decides to leave and pulls Susan along, saying, âSusan, letâs go.â
Susan cooperatively stands up.
âHold on, miss, you havenât told me your name yet, Allen pleaded, his gaze fixed on Susan.
Susan shot a meaningful glance at Thomas.

As Susan slowly removed her sunglasses and smiled faintly, she said, âWho I am should be told by you to this gentleman.â
Then she and Theresa, hand in hand, walked away.
Thomas was taken aback.
He was going crazy.
No, he was going to die.
He thought, âHow can Theresaâs companion be Susan?â
The realization that the person he brought had openly expressed interest in Susan, and if Ben found out about thisâ¦
His thoughts about their promised investment sent shivers down his spine.
In a desperate attempt to rectify the situation, Thomas hurried after them, calling out, âSisterâinâlaw, sisterâinâlaw, wait!â
Allen, confused, followed and grabbed Thomasâs hand. âThomas, why are you running? Do you know that beautiful lady? Sisterâinâlaw? Is her name Sisterâinâlaw?â
âLet go of me, youâ¦â Thomas struggled to chase after Susan and Theresa, but Allen held onto him tightly.
Watching Susan and Theresa walking away, Thomas turned to Allen with a look of utter despair, âYouâve ruined me.â
Allen appeared somewhat confused, but then he quickly dismissed it and asked expectantly, âYou still havenât told me, is that ladyâs name really âSisterâinâlawâ?â
Thomasâ face was filled with despair.
