Chapter 149
Missing Mrs. Lowry: The Billionaire’s Wakeup Call
Chapter 149
Sullivan whispered with a hint of curiosity, âWhatâs got you no lickled pink?â
Megan was rarely this chipper.
But the nature of her relationship with Sullivan wasnât exactly the kind to share tidbits of joy. Clutching her phone, she mumbled vaguely, âThat thing Iâve been dying to get in finally back in stock!â
Sullivan thought it was some kind of laury item, maybe jewelry. He chuckled, âIâll buy you whatever youâre hankering for
Megan didnât take the bait Pinching her phone, ale tiptoed barefoot into the walkâin closet, leaving Sullivanâs voice trailing behind her, âAlways on that phone What, keeping secrets from me? Got some new lunk in your DM67â
Inside the closet. Megan chose an outfit and slipped into it. Her voice was soft but clear, âWhat secrets could I possibly have? Isnât Harmony City your turf? Must be quite nostalgic being back here, bul?â
Sullivan felt a twinge inside
He followed her, leaning on the door frame, watching her calm demeanor and naid, âI never had an affair with hert I never laid a finger on hert That photo was snapped without my knowledgeâ
Megan just laughed it off, nonchalantly pulling up her black fishnet stockings,
Her legs were slender, and with the stockings, she was the epitome of allure.
Sullivan, of course, was fond of that look, but when Megan wore such tempting attire out in public, it didnât sit well with him. He grumbled, âItâs freezing out, and youâre wearing that?â
Megan breezed past him toward the bathroom
âYou expect me
e to go bareâlegged under a coat and dress?â
Sullivan frowned and asked. âDonât you have anything thicker?â
Glancing up while freshening up, Meganâs gaze met Sullivanâs in the mirror. After a moment, she said softly, âSullivan, if youâre not happy, Iâll remember to wear something thicker next time. After all, Iâm still counting on you to defend my brother in court. I wouldnât dare upset you.
Her sarcasm stung Sullivan.
Yet he didnât fly back home. Instead, he accompanied Megan to the Harmony City Opera House for Paxtonâs worldwide classical music launch, given that Paxton hailed from Harmony City
Upon arrival. Megan was greeted warmly by the event coordinator, âMs. Quigley, youâre here bright and early.â
Megan nodded in acknowledgment.
Then, as if just noticing Sullivan, the coordinator asked, âAnd who might this be?â
Sullivan glanced at Megan and then shook hands with the coordinator, saying, Tm her husband
The coordinator had an âahaâ moment, âAh, Ms. Quigleyâs off the market so young!â
Megan cast a sidelong glance at Sullivan. He gracefully gestured with his hand and retreated to the audience seats.
Watching Megan work was fascinating to him; she oversaw everything from stage design to lighting adjustments, her voice soft and welcoming as the spring breeze when she spoke⦠An attractive woman always seemed to have an edge at work, efficient and swift.
Once the lighting was perfect
Megan stood center stage and played a violin piece to test the acoustics. Under the bright lights, her posture was captivating, her bowing graceful and classical, her profile flawless.
She shone so brightly that it moved Sullivanâs heart.
His breath was uneven, yet he couldnât bring himself to look away, simply watching her from a distance brought him immense
satisfaction.
A tender spot within him stirred.
Sullivan realized, he was smitten with Megan.
Just as he was lost in his infatuation, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a call from Bianca
Sullivan took one last look at Megan, unaware that this would be the last time heâd see her perform so eamestly, basking in her talent, shining in her element.
He answered Biancaâs call.
And the moment he did, he heard Biancaâs voice, shocked and panicked, âMr. Lowry, somethingâs wrong with Cressida!â
