Chapter 89
Missing Mrs. Lowry: The Billionaire’s Wakeup Call
Luc
Chapter 89
Luciaâs eyes brimmed with tears. The weight of concem was heavy in her heart.
She gripped Meganâs hand tightly. âHow can he be so fickle? Do you think heâs hit a midâlife crisis already?â
The mood had been somber, but at Luciaâs words, even Megan couldnât help but let out a chuckle. âItâs entirely possible!â
They talked about everything and nothing.
Luciaâs gaze settled on Megan, her expression a complex tapestry of emotions. âBennett landed in the hospital last night! Broke a rib. it was Timeiny who took him. Victoria couldnât stand Bennett having those feelings for you. They had a huge row right there in the ER. In the end, it was Mrs. Leach who had to come and sort everything out. I bet the Leach household is in total chaos right nowâ
Megan stirred her coffee, her head bowed. Her voice was a low murmur. âI didnât provoke him.â
Lucia knew that, of course. She worried Bennett wouldnât give up. The truth was, Bennett only held back because Megan was Sullivanâs wife, and if that ever changedâ¦
Lucia couldnât bear to think about it! She didnât voice these gloomy thoughts. Instead, after a long time without seeing each other, Lucia insisted they go shopping for some sexy lingerie. She claimed she needed to up her game since a few young models had been circling Timothy lately, and she had to make sure she kept him hooked.
Megan knew it was not serious.
Lucia didnât really love Timothy, did she?
At the mall, Lucia coerced Megan into buying a few pieces as well.
Megan felt they were a bit too much, but Lucia insisted, âWith your fair skin, youâll look stunning in dark laceâ And with that, Lucia disappeared into another fitting room.
Megan watched her friendâs retreating figure with a soft smile. Then her phone rang.
It was Sullivan
Her smile faded as she answered the call with a gentle voice. âSullivan, whats up?â
Sullivan was at the Lowry Group headquarters, lounging in the plush CEO office, idly spinning in his chair. âHeard from Laura you went out. Meeting someone?â
Even in his mild tone, Megan detected an underlying note of control. She replied softly. âSullivan, thereâs no need to beat around the bush and suspect me all the time.â
Silence came from the other end of the line.
Clearly, Sullivan was not pleased.
Megan lowered her voice further. âIâm out shopping with Lugla.â
Sullivan blightened a bit, his voice taking on a warmer note. âWhat did you buy? If you have time, could you please pick up some shirts for me⦠Okay?â
It used to be Meganâs habit to buy things for him, though he never wore them.
Now, he was pleading her to.
Megan didnât understand why Sullivan insisted on pretending to be the perfect loving couple. Werenât they better off before, when things were clearâcut?
She gently reminded him, âYour shirts are privately customized. Sullivan. Have you forgotten?â
Men can tell when theyâre being humored by women.
But Sullivan didnât press the issue Instead, he chuckled lightly, his voice tinged with a hint of intimacy. âI must have forgotten, Mrs. Lowry.â
After hanging up, Megan felt drained.
Just then, Lucia burst out of the fitting room. âEmergency call! I must run, Megap! Weâll catch up next time⦠Honey, could you settle the bill for me?â
Megan shook her head, resigned.
After Lucia left, Megan paid the bill and asked the staff to deliver Luciaâs purchases to her place.
She stepped out of the mall, it was still early.
The cinema was bustling with people.
The movie âMy Past Love 4â had just premiered. Young couples were all around the poster, taking photos and checking in

She didnât want to go home, didnât want to return to a place shared with Sullivan. Almost on impulse, she bought a movie ticket, and holding it felt like sheâd stolen two hours of joy
Right before the ticket checkpoint, a familiar voice called her name from behind. âMegan!â
Slowly turning around, Megan saw Sullivan, impeccable as always.
