Chapter 107
After the Divorce: Crushed on My Lawyer Ex-wife
#107 âLast Night was Fun, Right?â
Sophia tiptoed into her apartment, careful not to disturb Evelyn, who was peacefully asleep. The dim light in the living room revealed a serene scene, and Sophia, still mulling over the perplexing events of the evening, decided not to wake her friend. Instead, she headed to the kitchen, feeling the need to unwind.
Pouring herself a generous glass of wine, Sophia tried to make sense of the eveningâs chaos. The memory of Alexander leaving, seemingly inebriated, with Megan was still fresh in her mind. She couldnât shake off the feeling that something was amiss.
Just as she settled into her thoughts, her phone buzzed, and Alexanderâs name flashed on the screen.
Intrigued and slightly anxious, she opened the message that read, âSorry, Iâll explain later.â
The first attempt led to disappointment -a ringing phone with no response. Anxiety crept in, fueled by her overactive imagination conjuring all sorts of scenarios. Was he in trouble?
Sophia frowned at her phone. âExplain what?â she muttered to herself. The evening had taken an unexpected turn, and she couldnât fathom what could be behind Alexanderâs mysterious message. He had asked for a conversation, and then he disappeared into the night with Megan.
Unable to resist the urge to seek answers, Sophia decided to call him. She pressed the dial button, her mind racing with questions.
The first attempt led to disappointment -a ringing phone with no response. Anxiety crept in, fueled by her overactive imagination conjuring all sorts of scenarios. Was he in trouble?
Unable to contain her worry, Sophia decided to give it another shot after five agonizing minutes. This time, the call connected, and a voice on the other end finally broke the silence. But it wasnât Alexander.
It was Megan, and the sound of rushing water in the background suggested she was in the middle of a shower.
Sophia, confused and slightly annoyed, blurted out, âHey, whereâs Alexander? Whatâs going on?â
Megan, with an air of arrogance that matched her tone, responded nonchalantly, âOh, heâs just taking a shower. Whatâs up?â
Sophia, baffled by the unexpected turn of events, raised an eyebrow. âHe just texted meâ¦Nevermind.â
Sophia decided that she wasnât concerned with Megan right now.
âOkay, well, if you donât have anything to say, Iâll hang up,â Megan retorts and laughs. Sophia stared at her phone for a moment after ending the call with Megan. She couldnât help but feel frustrated and confused.
âSeriously, whatâs going on?â she muttered to herself. It wasnât like her to be so invested in someone elseâs drama, but Alexanderâs mysterious behavior had stirred something in her.
After a deep sigh, Sophia decided to shake off her concerns. âIâve got better things to do than worrying about him,â she said to herself, trying to adopt a nonchalant attitude. She needed to prioritize her own peace of mind, and if Alexander wanted to play the enigma card, then so be it.
With newfound determination, Sophia headed to the bathroom, turning on the shower to wash away the lingering tension. The warm water cascaded over her, providing a brief respite from the chaotic thoughts swirling in her mind. As the water droplets danced on her skin, she couldnât help but replay the events of the evening.
âI shouldâve seen this coming,â she muttered, her frustration mounting again. But deep down, she knew that Alexanderâs unpredictability wasnât something she could have anticipated. She shook her head, trying to clear away the mental fog.
After the shower, Sophia wrapped herself in a cozy towel and padded to her bedroom. She glanced at the clock -late, as usual. Despite the exhaustion from the dayâs events, sleep proved elusive. Tossing and turning in bed, she found herself staring at the ceiling, her mind still buzzing with questions.
âWhy do I even care so much?â Sophia whispered to the quiet room. It wasnât just about Alexander; it was about the unsettling feeling of not knowing. She hated being in the dark, especially when it came to people she considered close.
The night stretched on, with the rhythmic ticking of the clock as her only companion. Sleep finally claimed her, but it was a restless slumber. Dreams and fragments of thoughts about Alexander and the events of the evening intertwined, creating a tangled web of confusion.

The morning sun sliced through the curtains, casting a warm glow on Alexanderâs bedroom. As he gradually woke up, the fog of sleep lifted, and his eyes widened with realization. He wasnât alone in bed. Panic set in when he saw Megan lying next to him, both of them naked.
His face went from dazed to downright horrified. âOh, no, no, no,â Alexander muttered to himself, running his hands through his hair as if trying to erase the previous nightâs events.
Megan, seemingly unfazed by the situation, stirred and reached out to him with a sly grin. âMorning, handsome,â she purred, attempting to be all affectionate.
But Alexander recoiled, his expression turning from horror to stern in an instant. âNo, no, no,â he repeated, pushing her away gently but firmly. â This is not happening.â
Megan, undeterred, sat up and attempted to play it cool. âCome on, Alex, donât be like that. Last night was fun, right?â
Alexander shot her a withering look. â Fun? Megan, this isnât a game. We had an agreement, and this wasnât part of it.
In a cold tone, he continued, âI listened to your cooperation spiel, drank with you, and now I wake up like this? Seriously?â
Megan, realizing the gravity of the situation, dropped the playful act. â Look, Alexander, I had to do what I had to do. You know how important this cooperation is. I had to make sure youâre committed.â
Alexanderâs expression turned from stern to incredulous. âCommitted? By getting me drunk and taking advantage? Thatâs your idea of commitment?â
Megan sighed, her desperation creeping into her voice. âI had to use every possible means, Alex. This is bigger than us. I needed to be sure you were on board.â
Alexander shook his head, frustration and disappointment written all over his face. âThis is not how you gain someoneâs trust, Megan. Now, leave.â
Megan reluctantly climbed out of bed. As she gathered her clothes, the room was thick with tension.
The events of the night had left an indelible mark on the dynamics between Alexander and Megan.
âOh come on Alexander itâs not the end of the world,â Megan says as she is getting ready.
She tried to place a kiss on Alexanderâs cheek but he dodged her. That only made her laugh.
