Genevieve smiled and replied, “No worries. It’s easy for us to meet up anyway.”

Returning to the office, Genevieve took out the flash drive Jasper had given her to watch the videos on the computer. Her face instantly turned pale as her breaths grew labored. She could never forget what happened on the cruise ship and how Johnson ruthlessly whipped her, leaving the pain searing and indelible. Nonetheless, what traumatized her most was hearing Anthony approaching, tying her up with ropes, and leaving her outside of the window. Overwhelmed by fear and panic, she felt suffocated, as though she had been manipulated by a mortal enemy.

Genevieve watched the aftermath of the incident she hadn’t witnessed at the time. Johnson, in an attempt to conceal the truth, used his secretary as a scapegoat. When Anthony burst in afterward, he interrogated relentlessly, resembling a fierce, bewildered wolf.

Eventually, Lauraine ran in, and Andrea’s clear voice came through. While the video didn’t capture the scene, the

sound was recorded.

Genevieve laughed suddenly, almost to tears. Clutching her chest, she felt agitated as if her failing heart had begun to beat again after recharging. Evil deeds wouldn’t go unpunished. She had no intention of surrendering the evidence. “So what if Lauraine is found guilty of attempting murder? The Hoffman family will find ways to help her so she won’t have to go to jail. She might even be able to go abroad and enjoy life, Genevieve thought, determined not to let them off so easily.

Genevieve pulled out the flash drive and kept it in the office’s safe deposit box. She wanted to contribute more

to the case.

The fluffy Goldie moved to Genevieve’s foot and extended two small paws as if requesting hugs.

Genevieve, who was in a good mood, treated Goldie with extra care. She held it in her arms while stroking its little head repeatedly. Genevieve looked at him in disbelief. Sneered inwardly, she pondered, “What have I just heard? Who does Anthony I am?”

Pursing his lips, Jasper stood there silently with his head down.

This was Anthony’s typical style, though. If it were someone else, perhaps his request would be happily obeyed. But with Genevieve, it might cause a stir.

After a brief silence, Genevieve chuckled and said coldly, “Let Mr. Simmons in.”

Daniel didn’t wish to come either. He wondered, “Why did Mr. Hoffman ask me to do this? It would make more sense if I’m here to deliver a gift or something, but just to convey a message? Is Ms. Lawrence even willing to

listen to me?”

Daniel intended to just leave right away, but Genevieve unexpectedly wanted to meet him. He went in nervously and greeted Genevieve with a smile.

Genevieve, too, responded to him with a gentle smile, saying, “Long time no see, Mr. Simmons. Get him a cup of coffee, Jasper. Extra sugar and milk.”

Daniel was both shocked and moved. When Anthony and Genevieve were still not divorced, Genevieve once

made him coffee while he was delivering things for Anthony, not expecting her to still remember his coffee preferences. With tears welling up, he smiled and said, “Ms. Lawrence, I’m glad to see you back safely.”

Genevieve paused and smiled. Goldie was struggling in her arms. With its tail held high, Goldie leaped onto the

table and turned to look at Daniel,
