Chapter 27

The others in the bar finally realized that something bad happened.

Selene rushed down right away and asked, “Gen, are you okay?”

She anxiously pulled Genevieve and sized her up. The latter shook her head, and only then did the former heave a sigh of relief.

“What’s going on? Did someone bully you?” Selene gazed cautiously at Anthony, who had appeared on the scene.

Genevieve also looked over.

Anthony walked indifferently toward Matthias, who was struggling to his feet. The former planted a foot on the

latter’s chest and exerted immense force on him.

He questioned, “Matthias, who gave you the guts to do that? Huh?”

Matthias saw that it was Anthony, and his face instantly turned pale.

He explained, “Tony, I… Didn’t you say you don’t want her anymore? Aiden said she is a shameless woman who would do anything for money. Isn’t she here to seduce men since she’s dressed like this in the bar?”

Matthias‘ explanation came out intermittently, and he was anxious.

Seeing Anthony’s increasingly dark expression, he began to suspect if he had said something wrong.

He continued, “This woman is so ungrateful. I’ll teach her a lesson on your behalf. Ahh-”

Before he could finish his words, Anthony kicked him in the chest. There was a cold and intense look in the latter’s gaze. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he retorted gloomily, “Who do you think you are, and who said you could settle things for me?”

He usually did not like to dirty his hands but could not help himself at that moment.

The anger within him was difficult to contain, and the fear from just now had not subsided at all.

He then rapidly landed a punch on Matthias‘ face, one after another, with a chilling and terrifying momentum.

He dared not imagine what would have happened if that stick had struck Genevieve. He thought, ‘How dare they bully her like that!‘

Matthias let out a miserable scream and was too in pain to utter a word. He was covered in cold sweat.

Seeing the situation, the person in charge of the bar remembered Aiden was in the private room upstairs. He immediately sent someone to call for the latter.

He thought that since they had a good relationship, Aiden could help smooth things with a few words. Otherwise, it would not end well if that situation continued to escalate.

He then had someone disperse the onlookers to avoid any video or information from spreading online and causing

more trouble.

Genevieve stood aside and looked on indifferently, without a trace of sympathy in her eyes.

She mused, ‘He deserves it!‘

Soon, Aiden heard Matthias had been beaten and immediately ran down.

He was stunned when he saw Anthony beating Matthias violently. “Tony…”

Anthony gazed at the battered and half–dead Matthias, then shook his wrist and let the latter go.

Aiden’s expression turned somber. After he was stunned for a moment, he looked at the person in charge of the

bar and asked, “What happened?”

The person in charge explained in a low voice, “Mr. Matthias Campbell wanted to invite this young lady for a drink. She refused, then splashed the drink on his face and smashed the glass. In a fit of anger, Mr. Matthias Campbell…”

Aiden was furious and gritted his teeth in anger. He glared at Genevieve and blamed her, “So it’s because of you? Did you do it on purpose? Are you trying to sow discord between us?”

Selene stood in front of Genevieve and refused to back down. “Are you deaf? It was that jerk who wanted to force Genevieve to drink. She resisted, and that’s why things escalated. Why? Do you all expect others to be grateful just because you treat someone to a drink? You are all so despicable. How dare you make a scene here after bullying a woman? My ass! You two definitely come from the same family. I can tell what kind of person you and your brother

are!”

Aiden’s face turned gloomy, and his gaze darkened. “Ms. Quinn, I don’t recall offending you. Please watch your

words.”

Selene’s identity was not a secret in the bar, and no one dared to offend her.

She usually hung out in a social circle different from theirs, so there was not much interaction between them.

Selene blurted, “Well, now you’ve offended me. If you don’t speak nicely, don’t blame others for scolding you!”

“You…” Aiden’s face turned pale with anger.

He turned to Anthony and defended, “Tony, there must be a misunderstanding. How could he coincidentally

encounter Ms. Lawrence like this? You must not fall for the tricks of a wretch.”

Genevieve could not help but sneer on the side. She took a step forward and sized Aiden up. “A wretch? Do you mean I deliberately seduced him? It wasn’t a misunderstanding when this person brought a few burly men to

attack me. It seems like this isn’t the first time, either. I wonder if the surveillance cameras in the bar just happened

to malfunction.”

She smiled and looked at the person in charge of the bar.

Suddenly, the person in charge of the bar was stunned, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He did not know

how to respond.

Offending the Campbell family was not something to be taken lightly. If the surveillance footage was unfavorable to them, he naturally would not dare to present it.

With an imposing demeanor and stern facial features, Anthony pulled at his collar and said, “If it’s not working, just

close down for renovation. Reopen when everything is in order!”

That sentence left the person in charge of the bar in a moment of panic. “M–Mr. Hoffman!”

He was more afraid of Anthony than the Campbell family.

He replied, “The surveillance cameras are working. They’re working well!”

Anthony looked at Genevieve with profound eyes and asked, “How do you plan to resolve this matter?”

Genevieve did not do anyone a favor. “Call the police. The police won’t let go of such gang–related cases, will they?”

With that, Genevieve took out her phone and called the police.

Aiden was slightly taken aback. He took a step forward and was nervous, saying, “Tony, Matthias is still young and

doesn’t consider the consequences of his actions. I apologize on his behalf. I’ll discipline him later. There’s no need

to involve the police in this matter.”

No matter what, the Campbell family could not afford to be disgraced in that manner.

Anthony glanced at Aiden indifferently and responded coldly, “Aiden, are you apologizing to the wrong person?”

Aiden was startled for a moment and suddenly understood.

With a stiff expression, he looked at Genevieve with reluctance evident in his eyes. He gritted his teeth and pleaded, “Ms. Lawrence, I apologize on behalf of Matthias. Is that acceptable?”

Aiden’s condescending apology did not change the outcome, but he felt greatly insulted.

Genevieve chuckled and found his forceful, apologetic demeanor quite amusing. She replied, “Your apology isn’t

worth that much. I don’t accept it.”

Aiden’s gaze instantly grew cold. Emotions clouded his judgment, and he blurted out, “Don’t you choose to do it the hard way. Do you think you’re still the Mrs. Hoffman that others respect?”

Anthony’s gaze darkened, and his tone became indifferent. “Aiden, my relationship with Genevieve is none of your business. You’re well aware of your brother’s character. If your family can’t control him, then let the police teach him a lesson!”

Aiden’s expression suddenly changed.

Anthony’s tone sounded extremely aloof, and his attitude toward Genevieve was beyond expectations.

Matthias, lying on the ground, struggled to speak. “Tony, I’m at fault. I’m sorry! Can you forgive me?”

A hint of coldness gleamed in Anthony’s green gaze. He kicked Matthias lightly and spoke indifferently and sarcastically. “What connection do we have? Address me as Mr. Hoffman.”

Aiden’s expression changed a little, and his gaze tightened momentarily.

Matthias had always addressed him like that, and Anthony had never objected previously.

Yet, Anthony wanted to cut ties with them now, leaving Aiden with a subtle sense of unease.

The police arrived quickly.

Since the surveillance footage was available, everything was proceeding smoothly.

The police took Matthias and the few burly men away.

Aiden had no choice but to go to the door and seek the help of a lawyer to get them released.

Selene was also busy calling acquaintances to communicate with the police, trying to sabotage their release.

Anthony walked to Genevieve’s side with a solemn expression. He pursed his thin lips and stared at her. His composed tone carried a hint of inquiry. “Can you accompany me to the hospital? I was injured just now.”

He thought, ‘She must be touched and distressed since I’m injured because of her, right?‘
