Chapter 52 - Sudden Change

He didn’t care about the occasion. He did whatever he wanted to do and said what he wanted to say at all times, never subject to any constraints.

Sheng Yue raised her chin in shock and couldn’t believe what she heard. How could he be so rude?

As soon as Ming Qi said that, his personal bodyguard stepped forward. Jiang Xinyi and Sheng Yue were respectively picked up by two people with their feet off the ground.

The surrounding gentlemen and ladies coldly watched them making such an exhibition of themselves as if watching a show.

The Sheng Family might be viewed as famous in Yan City, but little did they know that in the eyes of the big shots in the capital, they were as small as ants.

The way they tried to curry favor with Mr. Ming was so stupid. Fortunately, Mr. Ming had seen through their intentions.

Ming Qi turned and was about to continue talking to the old doctor. Then he suddenly froze for a moment and asked the old doctor, “What did the girl say her name was?”

“Sheng Yue,” the old doctor said loudly. “Dr. Ming, didn’t you hear about Yan City’s Sheng Family before you came to Yan City? They aren’t new money and are kinda famous in Yan City.”

“The Sheng Family?” Ming Qi’s eyes widened evidently.

“Wait a minute.” Jiang Xinyi and Sheng Yue had already been dragged to the door when Ming Qi hurried over. He looked at Sheng Yue and asked with uncertainty, “Your name is Sheng Yue, right?”

Sheng Yue stared at his face, a little stunned, and after a long time, she replied, “Yes.”

“Let go of them,” Ming Qi said to the bodyguards and turned to look at them. “You two come with me.”

The onlookers were all stunned. They had heard that Dr. Ming was capricious, but they didn’t expect him to be so fickle. One second, he told the two to get out, and the next second, he ushered them in himself. Was this a new trick to torture people?

Jiang Xinyi was also surprised and glanced at her daughter suspiciously. It was obvious that Dr. Ming was interested in her daughter.

What the hell was going on?

Sheng Yue spread her hands, indicating that she had no clue, but she felt extremely happy inside.

After re-entering the banquet hall, Jiang Xinyi and Sheng Yue were received with way more respect than earlier. They were arranged to sit closest to Ming Qi, which was opposite to Ming Qi.

Jiang Xinyi’s mind was finally at ease and she secretly squeezed her daughter’s hand.

She originally was going to blame her daughter for speaking impudently, but now she was glad that she brought her daughter.

She leaned closer and asked in a low voice, “What did you do?”

Sheng Yue shrugged with a big smile on her face. “I don’t know. He might’ve had his eyes on me before he came to Yan City.”

She couldn’t help feeling complacent.

“Then let me introduce you to each other.” The old doctor coughed slightly. “This is Dr. Ming Qi. These two—one is the wife of the second son of the Sheng family, and the other is her daughter, Sheng Yue.”

Silently, Ming Qi just raised his hand to signal that he understood.

He was a very domineering and short-tempered person and liked to have everything under his control.

He coldly looked at Jiang Xinyi as if he could completely see through her, making Jiang Xinyi feel a little bit terrified when confronted with this man. He said, “Tell me what you want from me.”

Ming Qi casually folded his long, slender fingers together as if everything was under his control.

“Dr. Ming, the Sheng Corporation is a time-honored company. Although we have just started research and development in the medical field, we’re very confident…”

Ming Qi interrupted her directly. “Just get to the point.”

It was the first time that Jiang Xinyi had encountered such a big shot. Although she had participated in business negotiations before, they were just small multimillion-dollar businesses because Grandfather Sheng didn’t trust her and hadn’t handed over big projects to her.
