Chapter 154
The Beta’s Regret
I pulled him closer again. Eros was being vulnerable in front of me for the first time. He told me of how he had lost control once and killed tens of his pack members. It made him doubt himself and his strength.
He was always in control of himself and never let his true emotions show. Today was different
He was confused, and nervous and it was breaking my heart to see him suffer like this.
âLet me do it, Eros. You said Beautyâs visions are not always true, but that they arenât always wrong either. I wish to help her in whatever she plans
to do. If I could really stall for time or break the curse, wouldnât it be great?â
Eros shook his head. âIt is risky. Eden.
I placed a finger on his lips, âShh. Let that risk be mine.â
âButâ
He began but I pressed my finger on his lips harder, âI know what Iâm doing. Trust me please,â
He raised an eyebrow, âAre you sure?â
I nodded, âone hundred percentâ
After I got discharged from the hospital and rested for sometime. Eros came into my room and led me to his office.
According to him, Beauty was waiting for us in his office. Our relationship felt more cordial and warm since his openness to me at the hospital.
Beauty was staring outside the window, thinking about something. She had a diary clutched in her hands and it looked like she had been chewing the base of the pencil.
She was wearing blue jeans, a black crop top, and a black jacket. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders and she looked like she was ready to conquer the world.
She gave me a small smile as I walked in and waved at her.
âHow are you?â I asked.
Beauty replied, âI should be asking you that question.â
I shrugged, âI feel fineâ
Eros walked towards his table.
*Seeing that
you are here, letâs get into it.â She cleared her throat âAs you know Eros is cursed and we have been looking for years for a cure but so far, I only found you. My visions told me you be able to help him stay grounded and not let Beastâs wild instincts completely take over his mind.â
I nodded.
âSo, I proposed that you become his help. Iâve been asking him for months to tell you all of it but he kept postponing it saying that
you hadnât shifted and that he didnât want to put that responsibility on you. He stopped us from divulging everything to you as well. But now, I think we are ready
She threw him a look as if to challenge him to deny it. He didnât say a word.
âCan
you explain more on what Iâm do for him?â I got straight to the point.
âAs I said, we need someone with a strong c connection to him, someone who could tame down the beast within him when he loses control. But only you come close, especially as revealed in my visions.â
âSo, if I agree to this, I can stop him from going wild?â I asked.
believe so. My visions tell me that you are strong enough to help him. With the arrival of your wolf, you have gotten stronger. We just have to perform a small ritual, and then you both will have established the bond.â
You make it sound so easy.â Eros grunted, staring pointedly at Beauty.
âI am not done. Eros. And I am not going to throw her into a fire. She is my friend too,â Beauty snapped.
Tucking her hair behind her ear, Beauty continued.
âThrough the spiritual bond, you would be able to sense the changes in his emotions whenever they get heightened. So, if you sense that he is losing it, you can inform us all and we try to stop him before he destroys or hurt anyone else.â
Well, that did not seem all that bad to me.
âAlso, if you are calm enough, youâd be able to channel some of your calmness into him and thereby stop the transitionâlike a mate She added
âLook, Eden, I know I am asking a lot from you. But we needed someone whoâs also not blindly loyal to Eros. His entire pack is and so neither would be able to fight him when he goes out of control. That would be disastrous, and further break him more.â
I had another question for her âSo you think if the hybrid King is not himself or his rage is intense, I will not only stop him. but put up a fight against him?â
She smiled, âYou are quite stubborn, in a good way, I mean. So far, he has given you many orders, but you follow none of them and just do what you want.â
I grinned, but the smile disappeared when Eros glared at me.
âDonât make it seem as if what she does is the right thing,â he snapped at his best friend, but she ignored him.
âI am just saying she is brave enough, as it is to stand by her words and beliefs. Even before she awakened her wolf, she stood up against you. Not many would live to tell the tale.
âBy standing up against me, you mean running away with a stranger and almost getting drugged and sold to the rogue King. Sure, that was good.â Eros grunted.
My smile disappeared again.
âAnd from what I hear, she also is the winner of the trials held yesterday. Arenât you, girl?â Beautyâ continued to speak positively about me.
I nodded.
agree to it
âSo, all of the points I stated lead me to the conclusion that she is our best bet. The only thing that matters now is if she would
Both Eros and Beautyâs eyes flicked to me at that line.
chas
âWell, I wonât allow her to do it. She is my subject and pack member, so she is bound to obey me. And I wonât permit her to do
My jaw dropped open. I thought we had agreed about me helping him out on this.
