Chapter 170
The Beta’s Regret
Chapter 170
The strangerâs voice was smooth, and deep.
It was amazing how he could have such powerful influence without making much effort.
I frowned, feeling uneasy as I stared into his face. I ignored the first words he spoke, giving him another full look to be sure I had never seen him anywhere else.
Tiara stirred within me, senses heightened. âWho are you?â I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
The manâs smirk widened as he ran his gaze over me. âYou donât know me do you?â
Before he could respond, a gasp echoed behind me. I turned to see mom standing a few feet behind me, her eyes wide and face pale. She was so still that I feared she had stopped breathing.
âMom?â I called out
She didnât answer. She just stared at us in shock. I looked back at the man and at my mother again.
âMom, do you know him?â I asked.
I was beginning to feel something strange stir up in me. I knew whatever was happening wasnât going to sit too well with me.
My mom made a strange sound in her throat. Her eyes started to tear up, and before I could say anything else, she burst into
tears.
I was taken aback by it. I hurried over to her, holding her arms in my hand as I forced her to look at me.
âMom, are you okay? What is wrong?â
She continued crying. I never thought I would see her cry more than she did the day before, but this seemed worse.
I was still at a loss on what to do when my mother finally got herself together enough to speak.
âIâm so sorry Eden. I didnât know he wouldâ¦â She trailed off.
âKnow what mom?â I looked back at the man who stared at us intently from the door, looking like he would rather be anywhere but here watching my mother cry. âDo you know him
My mom nodded and sniffed. She took a moment to look away as if to gather her thoughts before she finally looked at me again.
âI donât know how Iâm going to say this.â She mumbled.
I heard a frustrated sigh from behind me, and I could almost imagine the man rolling his eyes.
âTell her, Rose.â He said.
I didnât miss the familiarity in the way he called my motherâs name. Everything about this situation was making me feel
queasy.
âHe⦠he⦠Eden, he is your father.â My mom wailed.
I stopped breathing. Or maybe I was still breathing but I just couldnât tell, all I could think of at that moment was that the man I had wanted to meet all my life was standing behind me.
My hands fell from my motherâs arm. I slowly turned and looked at him.

He still had that cocky smile on his face. He hadnât moved much from his position. He pulled his hat away from his head, and a beautiful mane of red hair very much like my own fell out in short waves.
âWonât you let me in?â He asked.
I didnât answer. I couldnât.
With a small nod, he walked in, his movements fluid and flawless like his looks. He gently settled on a couch, placing his rod beside him.
He stretched a little, allowing his long length to take up most of the space.
He looked royal, like a king who knows his strength. I wasnât sure how to approach him, how to feel about him or what to do.
I observed him some more, his pale almost pristine white skin, his red hair that sharply contrasts with it and his sharp facial features.
If this was the man my mother had a one night stand with, I could see the reason why.
It was obvious he was a vampire. Even if he was yet to show me his fangs.
As if reading my thoughts, he looked at me and I shivered.
âSince that has been cleared, I should make a formal introduction.â He said. âMy name is Lord Shevek.â He smiled, his eyes warm âPlease come sit. I would like to have a proper conversation with you?â
Thesitated for a bit before I moved.
The closer I got to him, the more it felt like the temperature had dropped a little in the room. I shivered. With the kind of aura he emanates, I didnât need to be told he was a full blooded Vampire.
But I wasnât scared. Despite how cleanâcut, stiff, and polished he looked, he didnât seem dangerousâ¦. in a bad way.
I felt a strange pull to him, a strange comfort. I felt entranced, the way I gravitated to him like a magnetic pull. I couldnât stop it even if I tried, but I wasnât trying to.
I wanted to go closer to him to have him embrace me and comfort me.
Before I could move to sit on the couch beside him, my mother pushed her way in front of me.
âEden, wait!â She called, pushing me back a little. I frowned. My mother whirled around to face Lord Shevek. âHow dare you walk into my own home uninvited? Why are you here? We donât need you. Leave! Go away from us! Did you think I will just let you strut in and take my daughter away?â
Lord Shevek chuckled, sending a shiver down my spine. In an instant, like the speed of light, he appeared behind my mother and whispered âboomâ in her ear.
My mother stumbled with a loud shriek. She grabbed her chest in desperation, eyes closed.
Lord Shevek laughed, his voice booming across the room. Despite how serious the situation should have been, I found myself letting out a laugh.
My mom glared at me in anger, and my smile died down.
Then she glared at Lord Shevek who raised one hand in surrender.
âI come in peace, Rose.â Then he moved closer, his eyes becoming colder but his smile never wavering. âBut if you refuse to be civil about this, I will take what I came for. And you canât stop me.â
BB
I shivered. I knew this was not a threat. Lord Shevek- my fath what he just said, in the most dreadful way.
BB.
I shivered. I knew this was not a threat. Lord Shevek- my father looked like a man who was more than capable of doing what he just said, in the most dreadful way.
