Chapter 191
The Beta’s Regret
âWhatâs the meaning of this?â Lord Shevek growled as Beauty, Adonis, and Arthur came to a stop before us.
âLord Shevek.â Adonis started with a slight bow. âMy name is Adonis, and as you can tell.. We are hybrids.â
The bow was because Adonis was the more gentleman among the three men; Eros, Arthur and Adonis. Besides this was Lord Shevekâs world after all.
Adonis turned around and faced the crowd.
âEden does not belong to this Coven. She is a part of our pack, and we have already intiated her as a member of our pack. Thus, she wonât be joining this coven.â
Even though the domineering aura of my friends were subjecting every creature in the assembly, my father didnât even flinch âHow dare you interrupt our initiation ceremony uninvited?â he asked.
âI invited them.â I said softly. And it was loud enough for the whole crowd to gasp in shock.
âYou did this?â Lord Shevek growled. âDo you realize what you have done? You brought some people to interrupt a ceremony that has been kept sacred for centuries.â He said.
âI donât want to be a part of this.â I said.
âEden is a member of our hybrid pack. She cannot be initiated here.â Adonis spoke out again.
âBe quiet.â Lord Shevek growled.
Adonis growled back.
Hybrids hated commands like that.
The crowd was hooked on the drama. Some of them had retreated to the extreme end of the hall and leaned against it as they watched the events unfold.
Lord Shevek turned to me.
âI expected more from you. Why would you do this?â He said.
I rolled my eyes. What does he mean by expected? âI told you before you started all these that I have no interest in it.â
Lord Shevek growled. âI told you I want you to be my heir.â
âI canât be your heir, not if I am already a part of another pack. I have to leave. This is not my place.â I said.
âEden!â My mother called out.
âYou can stay if you want to,â I barked at her âbut I wonât spend another second here. I donât want to rule the coven. I donât want to be a part of killing people just for the fun of it or because they are traitors.â I said harshly.
My mother backed off. Lord Shevek tightened his fists; his eyes grew cold.
âYou will complete the ceremony.â He said.
I lifted my chin and stared straight into his eyes. âNo.â
Another snap of Lord Shevekâs fingers, and guards flooded the room. They may be a number but the four of us would take them down, leading to a very bloody battle.
âYou canât stop me.â I said even though I didnât want anyone hurt. I gave my friends a signal to be calm, to not act on their blood thirst. I would try talking to Lord Shevek.
âYou wonât leave.â Lord Shevek said. âI want you to stay and perform the rites.â He pointed to the vampire still bond in chains. âYou must kill him.â
âI wonât.â

Chapter 191
âYou are my daughter and future heir of the coven. Stop acting cowardly. I expect more from you.â He barked.
That word again.
I laughed, âDaughter? Future heir?â I huffed. âYouâve barely known me for more than three days; what exactly are you trying to drive at? What do you expect from a daughter you were not there for?â
âEden!â Beauty called out. âWhat is going on?â
âDid he just call you his daughter?â Adonis eyes were wide with shock.
They were all shocked. I noticed Arthur had barely said a word since they stepped in. He averted his gaze.
Why was he acting strange? Was it because of my presence in the coven? Or the news of being Lord Shevekâs daughter?
I knew how this information would sound to them. I never informed them about how I had found my father. And I wasnât about to start explaining the details now.
I sniffed. âItâs a long story. But Lord Shevek is my father.â I said.
âAre you sure this isnât some kind of trick?â Beauty snapped.
I shook my head.
I saw the way they suddenly looked at Lord Shevek with a little more respect. It was obvious they didnât want to be on their friendâs father bad side.
But I couldnât care less. I needed to get out of here.
âJust allow me go. I donât care if I never become your heir. I donât care if you abandon me. Because I was fine when I didnât have a father. I will be fine if you refuse to show up after now. It doesnât matter. You never existed until now.â I snapped.
âThat is exactly what Iâm trying to make up for. I have lost too much time with you, and I need to make it up with you.â He said softly.
âListen to me! This is the only way you can help me.â I said.
He turned away. âItâs too late. We already started the ritual. You must complete it. You must become my heir and bond with the mate that I have prepared for you.â
Mate? What mate?
âWhat do you mean?â I narrowed my gaze on him.
He ignored me and turned to the guards holding the traitor. âBring him closer. We must continue.â He looked at me. âThen you will meet your mate.â
âNoâ A loud roar burst through the territory, making every creature to scurry in fear. It was unnatural, and sounded distant yet so close, almost as if it came from the earth itself, but we coudnât see anyone who could have made that sound.
My heart skipped.
The door burst open with a strong wind that swept across the room in a wave. It blew my hair backwards as I felt the force of it. The doorway was filled with fog that slowly spread into the room.
I frowned.
Soon, the fog faded, and we all saw who it was.
Eros. He almost looked unrecognizable
He wore a shirt and short that hugged him so tight it was ripped in several places just to fit his current form.
I could see that he had shifted half way. Still in human form, but larger. his claws were fully formed, fangs out and his eyes glowed a bright red from the distance. Fur covered his skin as his muscles bulged.
I gasped. He looked wild.
6:41 PM
Before anyone understood what was happened, Eros was at the podium in a second.
He grabbed Lord Shevek by the neck and shoved him to the wall. The force of his push caused it to crack.
A low growl filled the air.
âWhat do you mean Eden would have another mate aside from me?â
