The Beta’s Regret
Chapter 237
(Eros Pov)
There was a long pause.
At that moment, I looked at Ryker in shock. I never would have imagined that the same man I had a feud with, would be the same person to defend me when it matters most.
Ryker looked back at me with a smile. He patted my shoulder before facing Pison again.
My lips slightly parted in disbelief as I looked at the traitorous group of three. Pison, my cousin who I had given my inheritance for, before.
Alice, Edenâs Ex- friend who tried to kill her⦠and then Arthur, my best friend.
My heart and fist clenched tightly as the waves of betrayal hit me. My gaze lingered on Arthur who lacked the full confidence to look me straight in the eyes.
My cousin laughed, his voice ringing out through the arena. He slowly turned around, arms stretched out as he showed himself to the crowd. I heard a few gasps around as people began to recognize who he was.
âI know you all know exactly who I am.â He smirked. âYour king!
A loud murmur broke out among the crowd.
Elder Crandall who had been silent all along suddenly spoke up.
âYou are no king. You were dethroned. Do not claim a title that you abused.â Elder Crandall snapped.
Pison spun around and faced him.
âA kingâs authority cannot be defiled. It was my throne, my power. Mine to wield and use the way I choose.â He frowned. âYou stole it from me and decided to give it to Eros.â
Elder Crandall scoffed. âYou have no hold over the throne. Your reign is over. Eros would have been king instead of you if only he acted early enoughâ
Pison growled and faced the crowd again as he roared out.
âI am your king! It was my right. But the Elders here,â he stretched his hand to the Elders, âdecided to give my crown to my little cousin.â
He laughed. âEros the scared little boy. He has no strength in him. He runs at the mere sight of danger, that is why he couldnât be king in the first place, because he knew he had no power to protect you, but I do. I will lay down my life for everyone in this arena if I need to, or I will take every single life away if I need to.â
A chilling gasp rounded out from the crowd.
âEnough.â Elder Crandall barked out. âEros is the rightful heir to the throne, not you.â
At first, it started as a murmur, but soon the crowd began to throw their opinions in very loud voices as they angrily threw accusing fingers at Pison.
âYou were a horrible king!â a woman screamed from the crowd.
âYou should have been killed instead of the crown taken away from you. My daughter died due to your terrible decisions.â

Another screamed.
âWe want freedom.â
âHow dare
you
threaten us!â
Pison eyes widened in surprise. He raised a hand in the air asking for silence, but it didnât work. Then he shouted.
âSilence.â
A few of them mellowed down as Pison started speaking.
âI can see you all were unsatisfied with my reign as king. But I can promise you that from now henceforth, I will be a better king for you. As long as you accept it, my reign will be much better than any other.â
âLies!â A man screamed from the crowd. âIf you cared about that, why did you bring the rogues?â
Pisonâs smile fell. Then he spread a fake smile on his lips.
âThey will not harm you in any way, I brought them over to ensure unity.â
âWhat kind of unity can a rogue enforce?â Elder Crandall said in anger.
âMake me your king once more and you will see.â Pison said.
âNoâ another said in the crowd.
In less than a second, chants of ânoâ rent the air. Pison looked surprised at the passionate refusal from the crowd and didnât react immediately
But I saw his anger build and his muscles tense. My cousin tried to quiet the crowd again, but they refused to stop chanting their refusal.
His breathing became heavier and I saw his claws begin to elongate. The rest of his body was hidden in the cloak, but his eye color changed and became darker.
Pison was about to fully lose control.
He suddenly faced me, his face squeezed in a ferocious look. It was like staring into the face of a beast.
Pison looked different, possessed.
I could see that his thirst for power had completely changed him. He had become too greedy and evil.
âThis is all your fault.â Pison roared and jumped at me. I ducked just in time, and he landed on all fours on the floor.
He stomped his feet on the floor, gathering dust, and howled into the air. The rogues howled in response, and I realized that it must be a signal.
Hell was let loose.
The rogues charged into the crowd and tore at whatever their teeth sunk into. Flesh was ripped with pieces of clothes, but my people fought back in anger. Mothers and fathers protected their children; mates protected their beloved. It was a bloody fight.
For a moment, I stood still, unable to move. All I thought of in that instant as I watched people get killed mercilessly was Eden.
Fear gripped me.

Chapter 237-
1 never imagined something, this horrible could happen today.
I felt a surge of anger fill me, and a strange buzz ran through me
At that moment, Pison charged at me,
I growled as I felt rage within me. I met Pison halfway as we snarled at each other.
I sunk my fangs into the side of his neck, and Pison growled out in pain. He swiped his claws over my face, drawing blood as he threw a huge punch at my stomach.
I staggered away from him. Pison fully shifted into his wolf and jumped at me at the same time Beast took over.
The cloud suddenly went dark.
