Chapter 34
The Beta’s Regret
All eyes were now focused on me.
Alpha Theo smirked, daring me to say no or yes.
Daring me to join the game or run off.
âIn fact, why donât we make it more interesting?
Why donât we make it just between you and me?â he said, and moved closer.
When I tried to step back, my back hit several people behind me. Did he suddenly mindlink them!
The room suddenly felt too crowded, and suffocating for me.
âCome on, sweetheart. Youâre not scared, are you?â He whispered, too close now. I could feel his breath on my skin. I could smell the alcohol-
Where is Nova and Alice?
He ran the back of his fingers slowly down my cheek, and down my neck. I could feel sparks breaking out on my skin where he touched, and shivers ran down my back.
âTheo, please, I begged. Damn the mate bond.
âPlease what, mate?â He whispered in my ear, his hand moving lower to my cleavages.
No!! Heâs not my mate! âStop it, Theo!â I snapped, grabbing his hand that was on my chest
âWhy? Why stop?â he growled âI want to touch whatâs mine. I want to see whatâs mine. Why does he gets to do it and not
me:
Whoops! Heâs drunk.
âYouâre drunk!â I told him, pushing him off with my growing hybrid force. He staggered backwards.
âYouâre mine, Eden! Donât think Iâm just going to give up!â he yelled behind me as I fought my way through all the stiff- bodied pack members to get out of there.
I stumbled out through the back door. I spotted group of ten people walking around with beer bottles in their hands.
âEden Eden!!â Alphs Theo called out.
My eyes widened. I quickly darted to the side of the house,
My heart was thumping so fast in my chest. The full moon was shinning its pale silvery light everywhere.
There were plenty of shadows of trees and shrubs for me to hide in.
âEdent Stop running⦠I can smell you,â he called out. Gosh! His Alpha power was helping him find me despite him being. drunk of wolfs bane.
peeked around the house, preparing to run if I had the chance to.
âAlpha Theo, Come on. Letsâ go,â I heard Chris; his betaâs voice said.
âNo! Let me go. I need to mark her.â He said vehemently.
G
âTheo, remember what you promised the elders council and Lord Tombull. Youâve got to go. Plus Lyra is waiting at home for you.â
âBut Eden is mine. She is Mine!â he said sadly
âI know,â Chris said, then I heard him call some others âNath, Jon. Duke⦠please take him home. The elders are going to behead you if you let him get anywhere near her.â
I leaned back against the wall, sighing in relief as they drag him away, cursing them for manhandling him.
Screw Theo. Screw the mate attraction that I still have for him. Screw the drama and free entertainment we just provided for those people in there. No doubt there will be plenty of talks for everybody by Monday. It will soon be all over school.
I
Snapping twigs made me jump. It drew my attention to the approaching figure. The strange smell met my nose. I stood at alert and waited for the figure to enter into light.
âAdam?â I called out in surprise.
He smiled genuinely. Adam was one of Theoâs friends. The calm and cool one. I did think he hates you
âHi Eden,â he moved closer.
âAre you following me?â I asked
He shook his head âwell, not really. I saw all that happened and decided to check up on you. I just want to make sure that youâre okayâ¦
He grabbed the back of his neck awkwardly. âSorry, Iâm blabbering..â
I couldnât help but laugh softly. He was funny, and likable.
If anybody had told me that I would be taking to supposedly cold and aloof Adam, I would have shook my heads.
âThank you,â I said. âThat was so nice of you,
Adam.â
âIâm sorry about Alpha Theo as well,â he said and looked away.
I shrugged my
shoulders and look at our environs. We were well hidden. âItâs not your fault. You donât have to apologize for it. Thank you for coming to check up on me,â
âAs his bosom friend, I knew he had orders to stay away from you. I knew also that he wouldnât listen to it for too long, and being drunk didnât help either. So, I had to call Chris. Together, we followed and now he should be on his way home,â he said
âSo it was all you?â I asked in surprise. Adam did help to get Theo away from me.
âThank you o much, Adam,â I said again and he shrugged.
âActually, he messed things up with you big time. I canât imagine living without your mate, and knowing that it was your fault that you are not with her⦠If you were mine, I wonât give you up for the world!
I turned to look at Adam.
âYouâre a good person, Adam. Whoever will turn out to be your mate will be a very lucky girl.â I said softly.
âWell, I wish Iâd meet her already,â he whispers, pocketing his hands.
Lowkey, this guy is becoming one of my favorites.
ì´ 41%
Whoops! Never judge a person by their appearance. I had always thought him to be the coldest amongst Theoâs friends.
âYou will, Adam. Sheâs somewhere out there waiting for you,â I said encouragingly.
I smiled brightly, while he stared at me, looking amazed âWhen you meet her, itâll be awesome!â I smiled brightly, thinking of Eros and how he makes me feel.
âMessage your friends, Iâll be taking you home- well, except you want to say,â Adam said
I unlocked my phone and saw that Iâd missed 3 calls from Eros. Is everything okay?
