Chapter 475
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
Rebecca pondered for a moment before agreeing with a smile. âAlright, I can help, but thereâs no need for unnecessary theatrics. I can get your family out, but I wonât let them go until youâve helped me deal with Nyla.â
Jordynâs face turned cold as she gritted her teeth. âNo need. Just make sure you help them leave when the time comes.â
If her family fell into Rebeccaâs hands, it wouldnât be any different than being under Clarkâs control. She would still be blackmailed into doing things she didnât want to do.
Rebecca let out a light laugh, her tone laced with mockery. âMs.
Cheatham, youâre not really in a position to make demands. Either I help get your family out, or you figure it out yourself.â
âRebecca, youâre kicking me while Iâm down!â Jordyn hissed.
Jordynâs anger didnât faze Rebecca. If anything, it made her smile even wider. âI didnât want to do this, but you handed me this leverage on a silver platte Silence fell on the other end of the line.
The quiet stretched long enough that it felt like no one was there.
Rebecca wasnât in a rush. She set her phone down on the table and took a sip of red wine. She knew Jordyn would come around.
After what felt like ages, Jordynâs reluctant voice came through. âFine, Iâll do it. But if anything happens to my family, Iâll tell Damon everything youâve done.â
âRelax. Your family will be safer with me than they ever were with Clark,â Rebecca assured her.
After hanging up, Rebecca immediately called Troy, instructing him to find out where Jordynâs parents were being held.
Troy sounded irritated. âMs. Austen, Iâm Mr. Prestonâs assistant, not yours.â
âWell, Mr. Cantrill, when I was visiting Nathaniel yesterday, I accidentally overheard a phone call you had in the stairwell. And wouldnât you know it, I accidentally recorded it.
âI wonder how Nathaniel would feel if he heard youâve been embezzling company funds to play the stock market. I doubt youâd just lose your jobâ
you might even end up in prison. What do you think?â Rebeccaâs tone dripped with sarcasm.
If she hadnât overheard Troyâs secret, she never would have known he had the nerve to misappropriate company investments, only to lose everything.
Troyâs breathing grew heavy, his voice thick with barely contained anger. âFine, Iâll handle it.â
âGood. Thereâs no need to bother Nathaniel with thisâheâs got enough on his plate,â Rebecca reminded him.
Understood, Ms. Austen,â Troy replied.
After hanging up, Rebecca smirked. It wouldnât be long before Nyla disappeared from this world, and she would finally have Damon back.
Troy worked quickly. In less than a day, he discovered where Jordynâs family was being held and arranged for their rescue.
Following Rebeccaâs instructions, he relocated them to a safe location.
Thanks to Troyâs efforts, Jordyn was able to reunite with her parents and brother.
The moment she saw her parents, both visibly thinner, tears welled up in her eyes. âDad, Mom, Iâm so sorry you had to go through thisâ¦â
Jordynâs father looked grim. He raised his hand, ready to strike her, demanding to know what she had done to cause this mess, but his wife quickly grabbed his arm.
Stepping forward, Jordynâs mother rasped, âJordyn, weâre family. Donât say such things. But what happened? How did you upset Clark so badly that he had us locked up?â
