Chapter 498
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
An hour later, Gabriel stormed into the CEOâs office at Prospectus Technology.
A dozen security guards trailed behind, but none managed to stop him.
He marched up to Damonâs desk, slammed his fists down hard, and grabbed Damon by the collar, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
âDamon, youâre responsible for Nylaâs death, and you act like nothing happened? I wonât let you get away with this!â Gabriel growled.
Damon shrugged off his hands and stared at him coldly. âGet out.â
Gabriel sneered. âThis matter isnât over! Youâd better watch out!â
With that, he turned and stormed out.
Damon watched Gabrielâs retreating figure with a blank expression.
Spencer, trembling, stood by the office door. âMr. Sumner⦠Iâm sorryâ¦â
âGet out,â Damon replied simply.
Given the force with which Gabriel had grabbed him, it was no surprise the security guards couldnât stop him.
Spencer quickly exited the office, instructing the guards at the door to return to their posts.
Since Nyla had fallen into the sea, Damon appeared emotionally numbâindifferent to everything and incapable of anger.
Spencer felt anxious but helpless.
After leaving Prospectus Technology, Gabriel headed straight to the hospital.
Wren was getting water when she saw him, her face lighting up with joy. âGabriel, I thought you were coming in the evening?â
Gabriel looked at her coldly. âWhen did you find out about Nylaâs fall into the sea?â
Wrenâs smile froze, and her brow furrowed. âYou came to the hospital just to ask me this?â
âOtherwise? Nyla is my sister. She fell into the sea a month ago, and you didnât even send me a message, Gabriel complained.

Seeing the questioning look in Gabrielâs eyes, Wren gnashed her teeth. âI didnât want to disturb you. Before you left for abroad, you said you couldnât use âDisturb me? Do you think a human life is less important than my work? I gave you an emergency number before I left. Why didnât you contact me immed If Wren had contacted him when Nyla fell, there might have been a chance to find her. Now that a month had passed, the chances of finding Nyla alive w slim.
Gabrielâs eyes were filled with frost.
If Wren werenât his mother, he wouldnât let her off so easily.
Upon meeting his accusing gaze, Wrenâs heart grew cold.
âGabriel, youâve been missing for a month and returned just to question me about this? Am I the culprit? Did I kill Nyla? Even if I had told you then, could you have reached the seaside in time to save retorted.
To Wren, Nyla was just an outsider. Seeing her carefully nurtured son question her over her stepdaughter was unacceptable.
âSheâs not just anyoneâsheâs my sister!â Gabriel growled.
Wren scoffed. âSister? Did she ever see you as a brother? All these years, she showed respect outwardly but never considered me or us as family. Yet, âEnough!â Gabriel interrupted coldly, his eyes filled with rage. âYou keep saying she didnât see you as an elder, but did you ever see her as your daughte âWhat do you want me to do? Compensate her with my life?â Wren shot back.
âForget it. I donât want to argue about this anymore. Iâm going to see Harrison,â Gabriel said flatly.
