Erinâs face lit up with joy. Just as she was about to say something, she noticed that Damon had suddenly. stopped walking.
Puzzled, she looked up and saw him staring ahead. She followed his gaze but saw nothing unusual.
âDamon, whatâs wrong?â she asked.
âNothing. Werenât you hungry? Letâs go,â he replied, his tone calm.
They entered the restaurant, where a server led them to a private room.
In the room next door, Oliver handed the menu to Nylal âNyla, why donât you pick what youâd like to eat? Tonightâs dinner is on me to celebrate your success in developing the new drug.â he said.
âYou already got gifts for both me and Buddy. I should treat tonight, especially since I just received a bonus,â Nyla replied.
Oliver relented. âAlright.â
Nyla ordered a few of the restaurantâs signature dishes and handed the menu back to Oliver. âWhy donât you choose a few more?â
After the orders were placed, Oliver looked at her and said gently, âYouâve spent the last few years pouring most of your energy into this new drug. Isnât i Nyla shook her head. âThe lab is already gearing up for a new project. Weâll probably start getting busy again next month.â
âOhâ¦â Oliverâs expression faltered, disappointment flickering in his eyes.
He had been hoping to ask about her plans regarding her personal life, but he hesitated, not wanting to seem too eager.

Flustered, she stood up quickly. âIâm going to the restroom.â
She left the private room and headed down the hallway. After finishing in the restroom, she was washing her hands when she bumped into Erin.

She took a step back as if she had seen a ghost.
Nyla had supposedly died after falling into the sea five years ago. How could she possibly be alive?
Nyla didnât care much for Erin, so her expression remained cold. âYouâve got the wrong person.â
âThe wrong person?!â Erin glared at her, gritting her teeth. âEven if you turned to ashes, I wouldnât mistake you! You didnât die? Why are you here now?!
âLet me warn youâDamon is my fiance now. If you try to seduce him, youâll be nothing but a homewrecker!
Nyla couldnât be bothered with her and walked past without a word.
Erin wasnât ready to let it go. She rushed forward and grabbed Nylaâs arm. âNyla, if you donât promise me right now that youâll stay away from Damon, I wonât Nyla shook her hand off and smirked icily. âMiss, I have no interest in your fiance. But if you keep harassing me, Iâll call the police and report you for it.â
With that, she turned and walked away.
Erin stood there, glaring at Nylaâs retreating figure. Her nails dug into her palms, the pain forcing her to regain her composure.
She reminded herself that this was five years later, and Damon had completely forgotten about Nyla. There was no reason to panic just because she ha By the time Erin returned to the private room, over ten minutes had passed.
