Chapter 558
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
The living room fell into a tense silence, the temperature dropping sharply.
Oliver turned to Nyla, disbelief written all over his face, mixed with a hint of joy flickering in his eyes. He knew she was trying to deceive Damon, but seeing her stand up for him made him feel happy n Damon narrowed his eyes, drumming his fingers idly on the table. âYou can marry him if you want. I donât care. But I wonât be giving Buddy back to you.â
Nylaâs expression darkened. Just as she was about to respond, a small figure dashed toward her.
âMommy.â Mason rushed into Nylaâs arms, clinging to her leg and crying heartâwrenchingly.
Hearing him sob over the phone had been one thing, but seeing his tearâstreaked face now made Nylaâs blood boil.
âWhat have you done to Buddy? Why is he crying like this?!â she demanded, glaring at Damon.
Damonâs expression remained icy. âHe just left you for a strange environment. Itâs normal for him to cry. Heâll settle down.â
Nyla was fuming. âHeâs just a child! You had Spencer force him to come here without letting him see me, and you think thatâs normal?!â
Annoyance flickered in Damonâs eyes as he replied coldly, âIf you hadnât hidden his existence all these years, we wouldnât be in this situation.â
The thought that his own son looked at him like a strangerâand even an enemyâ
filled Damon with irritation. All of this stemmed from the woman in front of him.
Nyla nearly laughed in frustration, âYou should recover your memory before saying that!â
She couldnât believe Damon could still speak so confidently while lacking the full truth of their past.
Damonâs expression darkened as she stood her ground. Was she implying that he had wronged her before?
For a moment, his face clouded with fury. âNo matter what happened in the past, I will not let you take Buddy away today.â
Oliver stepped forward, shielding Nyla and Mason behind him as he confronted Damon, âMr. Sumner, Prospectus Technology just established a foothold Damonâs expression hardened.
Oliver had caused numerous problems for Prospectus Technology when it was trying to enter the Capitarnia market. Initially, Damon had assumed it was just competition from local interests. Now, he realized that Oliver had been targeting him because of Nyla.
âOliver, do you think Iâm afraid?â Damon shot back.
Oliver smiled but did not respond. He simply glanced at the phone on the table, seemingly waiting for something.
Upon noticing Oliverâs gaze, Damonâs expression darkened even further.
If they were in Saintomia, Oliver wouldnât even have the right to challenge him. But this was Capitarnia. With Prospectus Technologyâs foundation still sh Soon, the phone on the table rong.
When Damon didnât answer, Oliver raised an eyebrow. âArenât you going to answer, Mr. Sumner? Are you afraid?â
Damon scoffed and answered the call, his expression quickly souring.
After hanging up, he glared at Oliver. âAre you really sure you want to target Prospectus Technology when no one gains anything?!â
âFor me, itâs not a loseâ
