Chapter 573
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
When Oliver received Nylaâs call, he was in the middle of packing up his personal belongings. Despite working at the Raynor Group for five years, there wasnât much that was solely his.
His voice, as always, was gentle. âNyla, whatâs wrong? Shouldnât you be in the lab right now?â
Nyla felt a sting in her nose, and her voice grew hoarse. âOliver, did you get forced out of the Raynor Group because of me?â
Although she tried to keep her emotions in check, Oliver could still hear the slight tremble in her voice, as if she were on the verge of tears.
He remained silent for a couple of seconds before replying softly, âThis has nothing to do with you. Iâve been wanting to take a break for a while, and nowâs as good a time as any.â
âLiar!â Nyla snapped.
She wasnât naive. She knew how much effort and ambition he had poured into his workâthings he never openly shared.
Taking a deep breath, Nyla spoke softly but firmly. âOliver, Iâm sorry. This is my fault. Iâll find a way to make it right.â
Sensing something off in her tone, Oliver instinctively frowned. âNyla, you donât need to-â
âI need to get back to the lab. Letâs talk later.â With that, Nyla hung up.
She took a deep breath, her eyes now filled with determination.
After Oliver resigned from the Raynor Group, Hugh personally appointed Fred as the interim CEO.
As soon as the meeting ended, Fred couldnât wait to call Damon.
âMr. Sumner, Iâve successfully pushed Oliver out of the Raynor Group. He wonât be able to challenge you again,â he reported. âNow, about the amusement park project you mentioned bringing the Raynor Group intoâ
when can we meet to discuss the details?â
Damon raised an eyebrow in surprise. âHow did you manage that?â
He hadnât even begun to make his move yet. With Fredâs limited shares, it shouldnât have been so easy to take down Oliver.
Fred smirked as he replied coldly, âI donât know whatâs gotten into Hugh, but he personally came to the company and ordered Oliver to resign on the spot, without any leniency. He even appointed Damon narrowed his eyes.
Hugh didnât stand by his own son? He kicked him out of the Raynor Group and let a man with clear ulterior motives take over? What was he playing at?
âIâll have my secretary contact you about the partnership. I have a meeting to attend,â Damon said and placed his phone on the desk, a thoughtful expres Hughâs actions had to have a purpose, but what was he trying to au Damon had never met Hugh, but he had heard of himâa wily old fox with business world.
