Chapter 1065
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Throughout the call, never did Corinne once ask about Jeremy nor did Tommy mention him.
âIf Mister wanted me to know about something, he wouldâve told me. I wouldnât need to ask other
people about it. Since he doesnât want me to know what heâs up to, thereâs no point in asking Tommy,â
she thought.
When night came, Tommy visited Corinne to give a status report on the task she asked him to do.
Since it would be inappropriate to receive him into the bedroom, Corinne asked him to follow her to
Jeremyâs study.
âMaâam, I already went to the Riveras to ask for custody of Mister Joey,â said Tommy respectfully.
Corinne was sitting casually on Jeremyâs office chair with her cheek resting on her hand. âAnd what did
they say?â
âMister Cedric and Mister Beatrice said youâve mentioned Mister Joeyâs custody arrangement to them
before. After careful consideration, they both think itâs best for you and Mister Jeremy to take care of
him.â
Corinne raised her eyebrow and looked at Tommyâs sides. âSo where is he? Why didnât you bring him
here?â
Corinne could not help but see herself in Joey. âPoor kid. Heâs been mistreated again and again after
Anya found no more use of him.â
âEven though Mister Cedric and Mister Beatrice agreed to let you take Mister Joey away, Miss Phoebe
insisted on keeping him by her side. She said that now that Miss Anya had been locked up, she canât
lose her only grandson too. She even went as far as to threaten to commit suicide if they take Mister
Joey away from her.â
Corinne did not pity Phoebe. She only found the whole thing laughable. âSo I see she has changed
from a good mother act to a good grandmother act now that Anya isnât there to play the âgood daughterâ
act. When was she when Anya was abusing Joey? I guess the apple doesnât fall far from the tree. Both
of them are as evil as they come.â
She knew Joey would suffer if he stayed any longer with Phoebe. Not to mention, she promised him
she would get him out.

After thinking it through, she asked, âWhereâs Miss Phoebe now? I want to see her.â
âMiss Phoebe has been sent away by Mister Cedric to live in the summer villa located in the
countryside. Mister Joey is also there.â
Corinne nodded. âOkay. Arrange for someone to drive me to the summer villa tomorrow morning. Iâm
going to talk to Phoebe about Joeyâs custody arrangement.â
Tommy was a little taken aback. âMaâam, itâs best if you donât meet up with any of the Riveras alone.
Miss Phoebe might do something drastic to you as revenge for getting Anya arrested. Not to mention,
Mister Jeremy would never allow you to go meet with Miss Phoebe if he was here.â
At the mention of Jeremy, Corinne became upset. âOh, so I need his permission to go somewhere
now?â she asked with a frown.
Tommy shook his head. âNo, itâs not like that, Maâam. Mister Jeremy is just concerned about your
safety. Itâs best if you wait until he comes back before going to talk to Miss Phoebe about Mister Joeyâs
custody arrangement.â
Corinne scoffed. âThen tell me, when will he be back?â
Tommy hesitated for ten seconds before answering, âIâm not sure either. It seems the problems
overseas are trickier than we thought, so itâll take him some time to sort things out.â
Corinne smiled coldly. âI can wait, but Iâm not sure whether Joey can. Iâm pretty sure I donât need to
remind you just what sort of people Anya and her mother are. Do you really think Phoebe will treat Joey
well? The kid is just an innocent pawn, and legally speaking, heâs Jeremyâs son. Can you bear the
responsibility if something happens to him?â
âWellâ¦â
