Chapter 1139
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
âWell, you wouldnât have taken the time to play with Joey if you didnât like kids, right?â asked Annie.
âOh, Iâm only doing it to help you. You looked kind of tired taking care of him,â answered Aaron.
Annie was stunned, and her heart actually skipped a beat. âHeâs only doing this to help me⦠No,
Annie! Donât overthink this. I shouldnât take the words of a serial flirter seriously.â
She shook her head to clear her mind. âThanks for helping, but I still think you mustâve liked kids.
Otherwise, youâll find the whole thing annoying after five minutes. Just like my ex. He hates kids so
much that heâd growl at any kid who comes near him.â
Aaron narrowed his eyes at the mention of Annieâs ex. âThen why did you choose to be with him?â he
asked with a smirk.
Annie sighed and said sadly, âHe actually treats me quite well, so I thought heâd change after we have
kids of our own. But then I found out it was all an act. He just wanted to use me to get close to Uncle
Jeremyâs family.â
Aaron used Joeyâs chubby little finger to poke Annieâs face, causing her to smile shyly.
âThere, there. Itâs all in the past now. Plus, itâs your exâs loss for not knowing a good thing when he had
it. So cheer up, buttercup.â
âDoes he mean Iâm the good thing?â thought Annie with shock. âThen why doesnât he like me? He might
as well not say things like that since itâs making me more confused than ever.â
At that moment, Annieâs phone suddenly rang.
âHey, Marcus. Whatâs up?â she asked after she answered the call.
âHey, Annie⦠Are you still with Mister Aaron and Miss Xante?â Marcus asked gently and shyly. âItâs
already lunchtime, so I was wondering whether you need me to help you order some food deliveryâ¦
Iâm actually quite worried youâll pass out from hunger.âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay

Annie was both touched and embarrassed by Marcusâ concern. âOh, thereâs no need. Iâm at my uncleâs
house right now, and weâre going to have lunch soon.â
âYour uncleâs house? Does that mean Mister Aaron and Miss Xante are there too?â
Annie knew she had to keep Aaronâs and Xanteâs whereabouts a secret, so she lied, âNope, theyâre not
here. I came to my uncleâs house alone after finishing my work.â
She decided to leave it at that as she did not want her colleagues to find out she was the niece of
Jeremy Holden. Previously, when everyone at Holden Group found out who she was, they would either
flatter her excessively or ask her for gossip about Jeremy. It was very annoying to say the least.
To his credit, Marcus did not ask any more questions. Instead, he asked shyly, âThen are you free
tonight? If you are, would you like to go to the cinema with me? Thereâs a new movie Iâve been
meaning to see.â
âOh, a new movie came out? I didnât even know.â
âIâll text you the movie details later. We can go watch it together tonight if youâre interested.â
âOkay, sure. Iâll wait for your text then.â
Annie immediately received a text from Marcus after she hung up the phone.
It was a picture of an all-black movie poster with only the word âCurseâ in red blood color.
âHey, itâs a horror movie,â said Aaron near her suddenly.
Annie quickly looked up and saw Aaron was looking at her phone too. She instinctively put her phone
away and scolded him.
âMister Aaron, you should really stop snooping on other peopleâs phones.â
