Chapter 1167
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinne put down her fork and rested her chin on her hand. âIâm actually quite surprised you turned out
cheerful and optimistic.â
Jason smiled. âCheerful and optimistic? I guess. But you should know thereâs a lot of pressure that
comes with being a successor. The training was so harsh that I didnât even get to enjoy my childhood.
Not to mention, everyone treats me like Iâm nothing just because Iâm not the biological son. It was hard
to make friends in the wealthy circle. When I first took over the company, the directors in the company
were so angry that they couldnât wait for me to fail.â
Corinne nodded sympathetically. âI can imagine how hard it mustâve been for you back then. But arenât
you glad you pushed through âcause everyone has to bow to you now?â
Jason smiled wryly. âThey only do that to my face, but when my back is turned, theyâll talk sh*t about
me. Even Jeremy, Zeke, and Gerald think Iâm beneath them. The only person in the world who treats
me like an equal is Lucas.â
Corinne found it odd he would say that. She assumed Lucas was the type who thought everyone was
beneath him. While it was true Jeremy, Zeke, and Gerald were closer to each other, it did not mean
they looked down on Jason. Otherwise, they would not have hung out with him.
âYouâre overthinking things. Jeremyâs not the type to look down on others,â said Corinne.
Jason narrowed his eyes. âEven now youâre still speaking up for him?â
âIâm not speaking up for him. Iâm just giving you an impartial observation. If heâs really the type that
judges people by their background, he wouldnât have married a country bumpkin like me.â
Jason chuckled coldly. âBut you said he was playing you, right? Isnât that the reason youâre running
away from him?âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Corinne was speechless. âHeâs right. Why did I speak up for Jeremy at all?â
âYou know what? Letâs just forget about him. You should eat some of the crawfish too!â said Corinne in
a friendlier tone than usual.
Jason smiled. âItâs okay. Iâm happy to just peel them for you.â
Corinne rolled her eyes. âI canât possibly finish all of them. Besides, itâs lonely eating by myself. Itâll be
more enjoyable if you share them with me.â
âAlright. Iâll eat them with you.â Jason sat down to eat with her.
Corinne started peeling her own crawfish since it tasted better when she did it herself.
âCorinne, do you know why Iâm so sure youâre more compatible with me than Jeremy?â asked Jason
suddenly.
Corinne, who was still peeling the crawfish, raised her eyebrow. âAnd here I thought youâd be quiet
while eating.â
Jason smiled. âBut itâll be boring if we donât talk.â
âDidnât your mama ever teach you to keep your mouth shut while eating?â
Jasonâs lips twitched. He could tell Corinne was trying to avoid the topic, but he did not care; he would
tell her even if she did not want to hear.
âWeâre more compatible since we had a similar childhood which gave us the values we have now. On
the other hand, you and Jeremy come from different worlds. The two of you together is like trying to fit
a square block into a round hole, while we share the same language.â
Corinne was not really in the mood to talk matters of the heart with Jason. âThousands of people share
the same childhood, but that doesnât mean theyâre compatible. Mister Jason, you should go back home
if youâre not interested in eating the crawfish.â
Jason smiled helplessly. âFine. I wonât talk about this topic anymore.â
