Chapter 1189
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
âHeh! Sophia is something else, too! She knew Iâm the bossâ friend, yet she dared to tell me Mister
Jeremy doesnât really talk about the boss much lately. Sheâs obviously declaring doing this to let me
know Mister Jeremy is hers alone,â thought Xante.
Xante went on to speculate that Sophia was hoping she would tell Corinne of their conversation today
so she would know to back off. âHaha! These two manipulative b*stard and b*tch are meant for each
other.â
âWhat makes you think Iâll tell you when Mister Jeremy obviously doesnât want to tell you? Miss Sophia,
Iâm honored that youâll ask us to join you for lunch, but please bear in mind weâre not really close
enough to talk about a lot of things,â said Xante.
Instead of being offended, Sophia smiled at her. âMiss Xante, I was just curious. Why are you being so
defensive? Could it be that you know where Miss Corinne is hiding now?â
Jeremy suddenly snapped his head up to look at Xante when he heard that.
Xante almost lost her cool. âThis woman isnât to be underestimated.â
She pushed up her gold-rimmed glasses out of habit and said, âI wish I knew where she is âcause itâs
been quite a while since we last saw her. Weâre all really worried about her. Iâm guessing she doesnât
want to show herself âcause thereâs someone she wishes very much to avoid, so we wonât force her to
do so.âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Sophia pretended to be confused. âShe wants to avoid seeing someone? Miss Xante, donât tell me
youâre referring to Jeremy. Why wouldnât Miss Corinne want to see him? From what I know, heâs very
good to her.â
Xante smiled. ââGoodâ is a very subjective word in this case. Is sweet-talking to trap another person in a
lie good? If you think thatâs good, Miss Sophia, you can keep him all to yourself! Corinne has no need
for a good-for-nothing like him!â
Sophia frowned. âI was right! You must know why Miss Corinne left Jeremy. Otherwise, you wouldnât
say something like that to defend her!â She turned toward Jeremy. âDid you hear that, Jeremy? Miss
Xante seems to have it in for you. Miss Corinne must be complaining to her about you all the time.â
Xante gritted her teeth secretly. âThis woman surely doesnât let up any opportunity to drive a wedge
between the boss and Mister Jeremy! Wait⦠I shouldnât get all worked up over this since the boss
doesnât care how Mister Jeremy sees her anymore.â
However, she felt discomfort with the way Jeremy gazed at her.
âDo I have something on my face, Mister Jeremy? Why are you looking at me like that?â she asked with
a breezy smile.
âDo you or do you not know where Corinne is right now?â he asked darkly, frowning.
Xanteâs heart skipped a beat because Jeremy was looking at her as though he could see right through
her soul. She told herself she could not let Corinneâs hard work end up in vain just because she could
not keep calm under pressure.
Thus, she squeezed out a smile and said, âIâve already told you that I donât know, and neither does
Aaron. We have our men looking for her everywhere, but we still came up empty-handed. I was about
to ask you whether you have any news of her.â
Jeremyâs eyes gradually dimmed. He shook his head apathetically. âNo, I donât.â
Xante scoffed. âLooks like she doesnât really want to be found, huh? Itâs a pity Aaron and I lost her just
because she doesnât want to see someone.â
Jeremy frowned again.
Sophiaâs eyes flickered. âMiss Xante, did Miss Corinne complain about Jeremy to you before?â
