Chapter 1219
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Aaron picked up at the first ring. âWhatâs the matter? Why are you calling me back so soon? You
missed me?â
âAaron Rhode, what the heck is wrong with you?! Why did you threaten to fire my boyfriend?â said
Annie angrily.
Aaron was walking to the underground parking and laughed when he heard what Annie said. âNothingâs
wrong with me. Just think of this as a little payback for slapping me and calling me a b*stard. You
should know Iâm the type of person who holds a grudge against those who wronged me.â
Annie frowned. âI slapped you because you were playing with my feelings! And even if it was because
of that, you should come at me instead of my boyfriend! Heâs innocent in all of this.â
Aaron chuckled. âWell, how I plan to exact my revenge is really up to me now, isnât it? Anyway, I wonât
bother you lovebirds now. See you later.â
After that, he hung up the phone.
Annie was furious. She regretted ever liking a hypocrite like Aaron!
âWait a minute. Did he say see you later? He must be joking, right? Yeah, that must be it. I shouldnât
overthink his words,â she thought.
After that, she gave Marcus his phone back. âDonât worry. Mister Aaron isnât going to fire you.â
Marcus was still very anxious. âAnnie, how could you talk to Mister Aaron like that?â he muttered in a
tone that sounded like he was blaming her.
He thought Annie called Aaron to apologize to him, but she scolded him instead. How could he ever
show his face in the company anymore?Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For

Annie blinked in confusion. âI was just trying to defend you.â
Marcus sighed again. âEven so you canât talk to my boss like that. You might not work there anymore,
but I still do. What if Mister Aaron fires me because of you? Iâ¦â
Looking at him, Annie gradually frowned.
Marcus immediately realized what he was doing wrong. In a softer tone, he said, âSorry, it wasnât easy
getting this job, so I started to panic a littleâ¦â
Since he apologized, Annie thought she should not have acted so rashly either. âNo, itâs my fault. I
didnât consider your feelings. I acted out of my own emotions and caused you more trouble.â
Marcus could not bear to lose her either. It would be a double blow to him if he were to lose both his job
and his girlfriend at the same time. Thus, he quickly put down his pride to comfort her. âNo, Annie. This
isnât your fault. Iâm just worried I wonât have the money to take care of you if I lose this job. After all, itâs
a manâs job to provide. I donât think I can bear it if I have to break up with you âcause Iâm unemployed.â
Annie shook her head vigorously. âMarcus, you shouldnât think like that! Iâm not going to break up with
you even if youâre unemployed! And donât worry, youâre not going to be unemployed. Iâm going to ask
Uncle Jeremy to get you a job at his company if Mister Aaron really fires you.â
Marcusâ face lit up. âReally? Butâ¦I donât even know whether your uncle accepts me yet.â
Annie patted his shoulder. âDonât worry. My uncle likes whoever I like. He actually spoils me very much!
Donât let his aloof attitude fool you. As a matter of fact, he never said no to any of my requests before.â
Marcus visibly felt better after that. âI envy you, Annie. You must be the luckiest girl to have an uncle
like that.â
Annie laughed out loud. âDonât be silly! Itâs nothing to be envious of. Heâll be your uncle too when we
marry. Heâll treat you as well as he treats me!â
Marcus wrapped her in a bear hug. âOh, Annie. I mustâve saved the universe in my previous life to have
a girlfriend like you. Iâm grateful that youâre willing to accept a low-level employee who has no money
like me.â
Annie did not put up a struggle or hug him back. She merely stood still, tensely.
âOkay, okay. Thatâs enough. We should head in now. It would be rude to make Uncle Jeremy and
Corinne wait for us.â
