Chapter 1226
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Jeremy glowered. âMiss Corinne, I donât care if you donât want to live, but you shouldnât take the babyâs
life as a joke!â he said contemptuously.
Corinne slapped away his hand in disgust. âStop being a worrywart! No baby ever died from the mother
eating some carrots!â
Jeremy pulled back his hand, put down his fork, and stared at her as if looking into her soul.
Corinne did not like how he looked at her, so she stood up and said, âI feel like Iâm going to throw up.
Please excuse me while I go to the restroom!â
She then walked away without waiting for anyoneâs response.
Annie watched Corinne leave before turning to ask Jeremy, âWhy did you do that, Uncle Jeremy? You
made her angry again!â
Instead of answering her, Jeremy simply stared at Corinneâs back silently.
â¦
Corinne walked slowly since she was already eight months pregnant by then. However, before she got
to the restroom, she ran into Pamela and Francine. Both were walking as fast as they could to find her.
âCorinne! Look, Grandma! It is Corinne!â shouted Francine excitedly while holding onto Pamelaâs
elbow.
Corinne stopped walking when she heard someone calling out her name. She then turned and was
surprised to see Pamela and Francine.
She forcibly smiled and said, âGrandma. How have you been?â
Pamela started to get teary. She walked up and held Corinneâs hands before looking her from head to
toe worriedly. âCorinne, where have you been for the past six months? I miss you so much every
day!âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
âOh, uh⦠I went to a place with beautiful scenery. I had a very good time there.â
Pamela sighed. âNo matter how beautiful the scenery is, itâs important for you to stay at home for the
babyâs sake. Look at you. Youâre already eight months pregnant, but you donât have the pregnancy
glow anymore. It pains me to think how much hardship you mustâve suffered outside.â
âGrandma, I didnât suffer any hardship. Like I said, I had a very good time on my own,â explained
Corinne helplessly.
Pamela paid no mind to what she said. It was as if she was in her own world. She held Corinneâs hand
tightly and nagged her to take care of herself more.
Corinne did not want to have too much interaction with anyone from the Holden family, but she felt it
would be rude to act coldly toward an old woman. Thus, she forced herself to go along with whatever
Pamela said.
At the same time, she could not help but feel a pair of hostile eyes were on her. She turned to where
she thought the gaze was coming from.
Sophia smiled and walked up to her. She held out her hand for a handshake.
âHello, Miss Corinne. I heard so much about you! Itâs so great to finally meet⦠Ah, forgive me. This
isnât our first time meeting, isnât it? I mean, we met yesterday, right?â
Sophia was able to correctly guess that Corinne was Moon by her body language.
Corinne looked at her. At that point, there was no need to hide her other identity. She smiled and said,
âYes. Fancy seeing you again.â
However, she did not shake her hand. Thus, Sophia had no choice but to awkwardly put down her
hand. To her credit, she kept her smile.
Initially, Corinne still had kind feelings toward Pamela. She was grateful to the old woman for taking
care of her before, but that feeling disappeared when she saw Pamela had brought Sophia with her.
Not wanting to talk to Pamela anymore, Corinne pulled her hands back and said, âExcuse me, but I
need to go to the restroom for a bit. Mister Jeremyâs table is right ahead. Please find him there.â
