Chapter 1261
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
What should I do? What should I say? Marcus will think somethingâs going on between me and Mister
Aaron if he comes here and sees weâre having a candlelit dinner! How am I going to explain to him
then?â thought Annie in a panic.
âWhatâs the matter, Annie? Why arenât you saying anything?â asked Marcus quizzically after a while.
After thinking about it, Annie decided to not let Marcus come. âUmm⦠The restaurant is very far from
your office, and Iâm just about to finish. Why donât we have lunch next time instead?â
Marcus sounded dejected. âBut Iâve already asked for a half-day leave, so it doesnât matter if the
restaurant is far. I can take a cab there, and if youâve already finished eating, I can send you home.â
Annie did not know what to say. âHeâs so patient and kind to me. I canât let him come! Heâll be super
hurt if he does.â
The private dining room they were in was very quiet. Aaron smiled at Annie when he heard what
Marcus said.
âYou should just have him join us for lunch since he took the effort to take time off work.â
Annie was speechless. âOf course heâd say that! Heâs not the one that has to explain whatâs going on to
Marcus.â
Unexpectedly, Marcus heard Aaronâs voice too. âAnnie, are⦠Are you with someone else? Is that why
you donât want me to go?â
Annie started to panic. âAh, no! No⦠Thatâs not itâ¦â
âBut I heard a manâs voice just now!â
Annie felt really guilty. âThat⦠In any case, it isnât what you think it is!â
She could not bring herself to tell Marcus that she was having lunch with Aaron.
Marcus laughed bitterly. âYou know what, itâs okay. You sound like youâre really busy, so I wonât bother
you anymore.â
He was about to hang up the phone when Annie, who could tell he was angry, panickingly said, âNo!
Iâm not busy. Please come. Iâll text you the address later. I want you to come and pick me up.â
âReally? Do you mean that?â asked Marcus.
Annie sighed helplessly. âYeah. Just come over. Iâll explain everything to you once youâre here.â
Marcus smiled happily. âOkay. Iâll see you soon!â
Annie immediately got a headache after she hung up the phone. âHow am I going to explain this to
Marcus?â
âMister Aaron, can we change into another room where it isnât soâ¦romantic? I donât want Marcus to get
the wrong idea about us,â said Annie in a bid to negotiate with Aaron.
Aaron smiled easily at her and simply said, âNo.â
Annie glared at him. âWhy not? Donât you think this is inappropriate? It makes me look like Iâm cheating
on him.â
âNo, it doesnât.â
Annie stood up angrily. âThen you can have this lunch by yourself. Iâm going to move to another private
dining room to wait for Marcus.â
She walked to the door, but the waiter, who had been standing by the door the whole time, stopped her
from leaving.
âMiss, the dishes havenât been served yet, so you canât go out.â
âI donât want to eat anymore!â shouted Annie angrily.
âThen please wait until Mister Aaron has finished eating,â said the waiter respectfully.
Annie turned back to glare at Aaron.
Aaron simply smiled and continued to sip his juice. He did not seem like he had any intention to order
the waiter to let her out.
