Chapter 1263
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Aaron smiled threateningly, causing a chill to go up Marcusâ spine. For a moment, he thought he was
going to fire him.
âOkay, then. Goodbye, Mister Aaron! Weâre going now,â said Annie, breaking the silence as she pulled
Marcus to the shopping mall near the restaurant.
Aaron remained standing where he was, lost in thought for a few minutes before getting into his car.
Annie dragged Marcus to the shopping mall and pushed open the glass door entrance before looking
furtively back in the direction where they came from. She sighed with relief when she saw Aaronâs car
finally driving off.
Marcus looked at her anxiously. âAnnie, what is going on with you and Mister Aaron? Why does he
seem like he really hates me?â
Annie snapped back to the present and looked at him sheepishly. âSorry, Marcus. I didnât mean to
cause you any troubleâ¦â
Marcus quickly shook his head. âNo, I donât mean that. Iâm just worried that heâs trying to steal you from
me. I mean, Iâll surely lose in a fight against him.â
Annie smiled embarrassedly. âYouâre overthinking things! Everyone in the office knows heâs a player
who likes to flirt with every woman he sees. You donât need to take him seriously even if heâs interested
in me. Iâm sure itâs just a phase.â
Marcus visibly relaxed after that. âI thought youâd fall for a funny, charming, and successful man like
Mister Aaron too.â
âI⦠Well, forget it. Letâs not talk about him anymore. Itâs leaving a bad taste in my mouth,â said Annie
sheepishly. âWe should enjoy ourselves in the shopping mall since you took the time to get off work for
me. You must still be hungry âcause you didnât eat much just now. Come, Iâll buy you lunch again.â
â¦
Aaron bumped into Tommy, who had been standing guard by the main entrance, as soon as he got
home. Momentarily stunned, he then glared at him. âWhat are you doing here?â
Tommy nodded at him politely. âHello, Mister Aaron. Mister Jeremy ordered me to stay here to protect
Miss Corinne.â
Aaron frowned and scoffed. âHow unnecessary of him! Tell Mister Jeremy that Xante and I will protect
Corinne. Thereâs no need for that jerk to worry about her.â
Having worked with Jeremy for many years, Tommy had trained himself to not show any emotions even
when provoked. He smiled politely and said, âNo matter how much of a jerk my employer might be, heâll
never be as much of a jerk as you, Mister Aaron. Itâs like the pot calling the kettle black.â
Aaron was speechless. âI know Iâm a jerk, but is that how everyone sees me too?â
He could not offer up a retort because Tommy was right. However, that did not mean he had to let him
stay.
âYou can go back now that Iâm back to take care of Corinne.â
Tommy remained standing where he was. âYes, youâre back, but that doesnât mean I can leave my
post. Besides, me doing my job and you coming back have nothing to do with each other.â
Aaron was already in a bad mood to begin with, but Tommyâs words just made it even worse. âWhy
you!â
âAaron!â called Corinne as she walked out of the bedroom. She yawned and said, âWhat food did you
bring back for me? Iâm starving!â
Aaron turned to look at her. âBoss, I brought you some beef Wellington and mushroom soup. Is that
okay?â
Corinne nodded. âYup.â
âOkay, then. Wait at the dining table while I go heat up the food for you,â said Aaron with a smile.
