Chapter 1345
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinne had gained a lot of weight, and Greg noticed she was due soon. âWhere have you been all
these days?â
Corinne smiled without answering. She merely continued to drink her drink.
Jeremy followed her and knelt on the ground so he was level with her. He coaxed in a warm voice,
âThe drink is cold. Even if you like it, you should drink too quickly or youâll have diarrhea.â
Corinne frowned. âThen so be it.â
Jeremy knew she was trying to annoy him on purpose. He answered her calmly, âTake it easy and drink
slowly. You shouldnât go more than half a cup. Iâm going in to check on the interrogation.â
Corinne answered absent-mindedly.
Jeremy patted her head and headed to the police station corridor.
After Jeremy left, Francine helped Pamela sit beside Corinne.
Corinne smiled politely in a somewhat indifferent manner.
Pamela sighed. âI heard what you said to Sophia.â
âDid it subvert your understanding of me?â Corinne looked up at Pamela. âDo you think I mightâve been
too harsh on Jeremy?â
Pamela shook her head. âI know that youâre a good and honest person. I understand why you left
without saying goodbye. I knew that they had gotten the certificate, but I didnât tell you because Iâm
worried you might get angry and dump that brat.
âI didnât mean to hide it from you and tricked you into marrying. I know very well that my husband
forced Jeremy into doing that by using the operation as leverage. Jeremy had no choice.â
Corinne listened while sipping on her drink.
Pamela continued, âYou might not know this, but Jeremy has been stuck in a daze in the half a year
that you were gone. He never smiled, and he sent his people to look for you every day. I understand
how important you are to him, and I can also see his importance to you. You both love each other very
much, so I hope you wonât get into too big of a fight because of this misunderstanding. Come home
with us later, Corinne.â
Corinne shook her head. âNo. Not yet.â
Pamela felt a little hurt. âWhy not? Are you still hesitant to give Jeremy a chance to turn over a new
leaf?â
Corinne explained, âHeâs still technically married to the other woman by way of the marriage certificate.
I wonât live with a man married to someone else. Iâll return once that marriage certificate is revoked.â
Pamela instantly knew that reconciliation was in motion.
âI understand how you feel, but do you have a place to stay if you donât come home? Your delivery date
is coming anytime now, and Iâm worried about your safety.â
Corinne said, âYou can rest assured that Iâm in perfectly good health and have a safe place to live. The
baby will be alright.â
Pamela did not want to persuade her any further, but she felt that Corinne had misunderstood
something and said, âIâm not just worried about your child. Iâm more worried about you! Childbirth
carries many risks, and Iâm worried that youâre not being cared for by someone who has been through
all this. It is your first pregnancy.â
âThanks for your concern,â Corinne replied, âbut Iâm fine. I promise. I wonât set foot into the Holdens
until he solves his problems. This is my principle. I hope you can respect and understand that.â
