Chapter 1390
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Lucas was genuinely impressed by Sunnyâs resolution, which was very rare indeed.
âOkay. You get yourself ready, then. Iâll arrange for your departure after Corinne gives birth to the baby.â
âOkay. Thanks, Lucas!â said Sunny with a nod. He then went upstairs with a newfound kind of
determination.
âThat kid is finally growing up,â mused Lucas as he watched Sunny leave.
â¦
Corinne was in her room patting Joey to sleep. She would glance at her phone from time to time, even
though she knew it would be impossible for Jeremy to land so soon.
Somehow, she dozed off.
When she woke up the next day, there was still no news from Jeremy. Thus, she spent the whole day
distracted.
It was not until evening that she received a call from Jeremy.
âIâve just landed. Have you eaten?â he asked.
Corinne breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of Jeremyâs voice. âYeah. All three meals. How about
you?â
Jeremy sounded like he was walking. âYeah. I had airplane food. It was disgusting, even though I was
in first class.â
Corinne had waited for the whole day for him to call, yet she found herself with nothing to say to him.
âI have to go now. Make sure you eat well these few days. Iâll bring you a gift when Iâm back,â said
Jeremy.
Jeremy only called to tell her he had landed safely. As much as he wanted to talk to her more, he knew
he had more pressing matters to complete, and time was of the essence.
âWait!â shouted Corinne just as Jeremy was about to hang up.
âWhatâs the matter? Do you still have something to say to me?â asked Jeremy coyly.
Corinne cleared her throat. âAhem! Do what you have to do, but donât hang up the phone.â
âDonât hang up the phone? Are you that worried about me?â he teased.
âHmph! I just want to make sure youâre not lying to me. But youâre welcome to hang up the phone if
thereâs something you donât want me to hear. I just wonât call you back.â
Jeremy smiled. âAs if Iâd ever dare to hang up on you. Fine, I wonât hang up the phone. I just hope you
wonât find me annoying.â
âIâll try not to,â said Corinne haughtily. âAhem! So are you going to Sophiaâs house now?â
Jeremy walked out of the airport, and Tommy opened the car door for him.
âYeah. Her house is a little far from the airport. Iâm estimating that itâll at least take three hours for me to
get there,â said Jeremy softly as he got into the car.
âOh. You can take a nap in the car, then,â said Corinne.
Jeremy turned on his laptop and clicked on the email he had just received while saying, âNah. Iâve
already slept on the plane.â
Corinneâs lips twitched. âThat means we have to talk for three hours? Well, thatâs going to be
awkwardâ¦â
Not knowing what they could talk about, Corinne decided to play Jeremy a song on her music player.
âMister, name a song.â
âWhy? Are you going to sing for me?â asked Jeremy happily.
Corinne chuckled drily. âNo. Iâm going to play you a song. I never sing for free, and my fee is very
expensive.â
Jeremy raised an eyebrow. âHow much for you to sing a song? Iâll see if I can afford it.â
Corinne scoffed. âIâm not going to sing for you even if you have the money. The only way you can make
me sing for you is when you come home and give me the money personally.â
Jeremy laughed and said jokingly, âYou little gold-digger.â
