Chapter 1391
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinne did not seem perturbed. âHurry up. Which song would you like to listen to? Iâll play it for you so
it wonât feel awkward when we donât have anything to talk about during the call.â
Jeremy remained composed and unaffected. Even her shallow breathing was comforting to her. He
replied, âLetâs listen to âBridge over Troubled Waterâ.â
Corinne used her music player to search for the song and found several by different artists. She asked,
âWhoâs the singer?â
Jeremy replied, âSimon and Garfunkel.â
Music soon filled the air as Corinne played the track. After listening briefly to the song, she suddenly
remarked, âI never felt such a significant generation gap between us before this, but I feel it now that
Iâm listening to this song! We listen to songs from different eras, hahaâ¦â
Jeremy stopped typing on his keyboard. He seemed to take some offense to Corinneâs remark. âAre
you bothered by my age?â
Corinne sighed. âThereâs nothing I can do about it even if I am. You being older than I am is a fact. We
canât turn back the clock.â
Jeremyâs expression soured, and the atmosphere in the car became heavy. He did not usually care
much about his age, but he did so when it came to Corinne.
His silence elicited a chuckle from her. âWhy arenât you saying anything? Are you upset?â
âNo,â Jeremy replied curtly.
Corinne then said, âYour song choice is a little dated, but itâs pretty nice, especially the lyrics. Itâs quite
fitting for the moment.â
Jeremy did not respond to her remark. Instead, he asked, âWhat songs do you like to listen to? Choose
one that youngsters like you enjoy.â
âYou probably wonât enjoy the songs I listen to,â Corinne replied.
âYou donât know that. Put one on,â Jeremy insisted.
Corinne proceeded to play a song that was chock full of rapping, leaving Jeremy at a loss.
As expected, Jeremy could not quite appreciate that sort of music. The two of them continued to share
their music preferences and made small talk as three hours passed.
The car eventually arrived at Adam Manor where Sophiaâs father resided. Jeremy informed Corinne,
âIâve arrived.â He then placed the phoneâof which the call was still connectedâinto his pocket before
exiting the car and walking into the house.
Adam had arranged for several people to wait for Jeremyâs arrival. One of them greeted him, âMister
Jeremy, weâve been told to receive you on your arrival here.â
Jeremy nodded and replied, âTake me to see Mister Adam.â
âOf course. Please follow me,â the man said politely, bowing slightly as he gestured for Jeremy to come
with him.
Jeremy, along with Tommy, followed the man into Adamâs vast estate. He finally arrived at a spacious
gym where Adam was lifting weights.
Adam had maintained an impressive physique despite his old age, and that could be considered a
testament to his discipline.
The young man who led Jeremy there said, âSir, Mister Jeremy is here.â
Adam placed the barbell down and smiled at Jeremy. âMy son-in-law has arrived!â
