Chapter 1449
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
âI am in love with someone,â Corinne answered, âand thatâs why I canât fall in love with other people.â
Christine asked curiously, âThen who are you in love with? Where is he? Why isnât he here with you?â
Corinne was speechless. Every child had their own endless set of questions for adults. She would
never answer that if someone else posed such a question to her, but she could not do the same to her
daughter.
âThe person Iâm in love with canât come back for now,â Corinne said helplessly, âbut once heâs back, Iâll
have someone to love!â
Christine asked again, âIs that person Daddy?â
Corinne was taken aback and nodded earnestly. âYes. Itâs Daddy.â
Christine pouted. âBut I donât like Daddy!â
The little girlâs response startled Corinne. âWhy do you feel that way when you havenât even met him
before?â
Christine huffed. âThatâs why I donât like him! The prince will always show up and save the princess
when she needs him the most! Heâll also fight dragons to protect her! But Daddy has never shown up
for you! He doesnât like you, so I donât like him either!â
A childâs logic can be amusing at times, but on that occasion, Corinne was made to feel a little sad.
âBefore you were born, he always showed up when I needed him the most,â Corinne said with the
utmost sincerity.
Christine was puzzled. âThen why didnât he disappear after we were born? Does that mean he hates
us?â
Corinne shook her head. âNot at all! He is caught up with something and canât come back yet, but trust
me when I say that heâll come back one day. Youâll like him, too.â
Christine pouted, showing some resentment. âBut you always hug your pillow when youâre sad at night,
and heâs never around to comfort youâ¦â
Corinne did not expect her three-year-old daughter to be so empathetic with her emotions. She felt
touched and forced a smile as she said, âThere are times when everyone will feel sad. Itâs normal. Your
father also had his share of difficult moments when I wasnât with him. Christine, I donât want you to
worry about all these things at such a young age, and I wouldnât want you to think badly of your father
too. Heâll overcome all his obstacles someday, and weâll be reunited as a family again. Iâm sure of it.â
Christine gazed into Corinneâs determined eyes and threw herself into Corinneâs arms. âI hope youâll be
happy even when Daddy isnât around!â
âI will,â Corinne smiled.
Francine and Chester returned after Corinne finished her heart-to-heart conversation with Christine.
Corinne stood up and asked, âHow did it go? Did you find any vendors selling kites?â
Francine blushed slightly because she was still holding Chesterâs hands. She shook her head and said,
âChester and I searched everywhere, but we didnât find any vendors selling kites. The person probably
brought it from home.â
Corinne sighed and turned to Bryan, saying, âThere arenât any vendors selling kites here, but Iâll buy it
for you online once we get home. Is that okay?â
Bryan lowered his head in disappointment and muttered, âOkayâ¦â
Since he could not get the kite at that moment, he decided to meet the kiteâs owner.
