Chapter 1484
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 1484
Maybe it was because he had seen Corinne at the auction house earlier in the day and thought she did
not look like a bad person. He narrowed his eyes when an image of Corinne flashed through his mind.
âWhat does your mother do?â he asked.
âMy Mommy is super awesome. Sheâs the president of my Daddyâs company!â said Bryan proudly.
A look of skepticism flashed across Jeremyâs eyes. âSheâs a president? But she doesnât look like the
type who can lead a company! After all, whoâd follow a leader who looks that cute and innocent?
Alsoâ¦â
âDidnât you say you donât have a father? Why is your mother helping him run the company?â he asked.
Bryan frowned and pouted. His eyes shone as he answered, âMister, youâre not really that smart, are
you? Of course I have a father! Otherwise, how did my Mommy make me? I meant that my Daddy
hasnât been with US since I was young, so Iâve never seen him before. It doesnât mean my Mommy is a
being that can give birth to a baby without a man. Do you understand now?â
Jeremy was speechless. âWell, he certainly schooled me.â
He did not think there was anything wrong with his question, but after being schooled, he felt like he
was rather dumb.
âThen whereâs your father now?â asked Jeremy again. He rarely showed any curiosity toward other
people, but for some reason, he really wanted to know more about Corinne.
Bryan looked down sadly and sighed. âThatâs the thing; we donât know. Apparently, he went missing on
the day my twin sister and I were born. My Mommy has been looking for him everywhere over the
years, but there was
no lead on him at all. She really misses him. Sometimes, sheâll talk in her sleep, calling out to him
âMisterâ.â
âMister?â Jeremyâs chest suddenly tightened as the wave of familiarity and sadness washed over him.
Bryan nodded. âYes. My Mommy calls my Daddy âMisterâ because they have an age difference of
almost ten years.â
Misterâ¦â Jeremy snapped out of his daze. âSounds like your father isnât a responsible man at all. How
could he abandon your mother while she was giving birth?â he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Bryanâs face fell, and he answered angrily, âEven though Iâve never seen my Daddy before or know
what kind of person he is, you still have no right to talk about him like that!â
Jeremy laughed when he saw Bryan all puffed up with anger. It was one of the rare times he actually
showed any emotion.
âWhy are you so protective of me if youâve never seen him before? Donât you think he shouldnât have
abandoned your Mommy like that?â
Bryanâs feelings for his father were complicated, to say the least. After thinking it over, he said
seriously, âI donât know exactly what happened that time âcause my Mommy wouldnât tell US⦠But I
trust her judgment of people. The fact that she was willing to marry my Daddy means that he must be a
great person. If not, she wouldnât have stubbornly waited for him to come back until now. She wouldnât
even look at other men out of respect for my Daddy!â
Jeremy narrowed his eyes. â Meaning to say, your Mommy has never accepted any other menâs
advances at all?â
Bryan nodded resolutely. âThatâs right! Itâs not surprising other men would like her since sheâs so pretty,
but she wouldnât even give them any of her time. She mostly spends her time running my Daddyâs
company because she said she has to protect my Daddyâs hard work.â
Jeremy was stunned. He could not help but be impressed by Corinneâs character. âI guess thatâs why
people say you shouldnât judge a book by its cover. Iâd never taken her for such a strong woman by her
looks alone.â
