Chapter 304
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
While Corinne was leaning on the bed head with her eyes closed, someone knocked on the door, and
an unfamiliar 40- something woman came in.
âWho are you looking for?â Corinne opened her eyes and
looked warily at the woman. âWhy would the police officers let a random stranger in? Who is she?â
The middleâaged woman bowed respectfully and said, âMiss Corinne, Iâm the nurse that Mister Tommy
sent. You can call me Nancy. Iâll be here to take care of your diet and your daily needs. Donât hesitate to
let me know if you need anything.â
Corinne raised her eyebrows. âTommy? Tommy Jenkinson?â
The middleâaged woman nodded. âYes. Thatâs him.â
Corinne frowned a little. âWhy did he hire a nurse for me out of the blue? Did Jeremy leave? Guess he
doesnât believe me anymore, not that Iâm surprised since he and I donât have any sort of genuine
relationship in the first place! Funnily enough, he seemed to have told me that he liked me and wanted
me not to put a wall between us, and I almost believed it.â
At that moment, another ruckus was heard from outside.
âWho are you? Why wonât you let me in? Donât stand in my way! My aunt is inside! I want to go in and
see herâ¦â It was Annieâs voice.
When Corinne heard that, she said to the nurse, âCould you tell the police to let that girl in? Sheâs my
nieceâinâlaw.â
Nancy nodded and did as she was told. Nancy brought Annie in

some time later, but she had a frown on her face and was complaining somewhat angrily. âThis is
absurd! I didnât come for a day, and now all this has happened! This is unjust, I say!â
Corinne looked at Annie, then at the thermos flask she was carrying. âWhat delicacies do you have for
me today?â
Annie raised the thermos in her hand. âOh, this? Auntie, this is some chicken soup that I asked my
mother to make for you. People always say that itâs best to drink soup when youâre sick! Maybe your
hand will heal faster once you drink it!â
Corinne smiled. âThanks. Iâm actually feeling a little puckish right now! Could you please fill a bowl for
me and let it cool a little, Nancy?â
âSure thing, Miss Corinne,â Nancy said. She stepped forward, took the thermos from Annieâs hand, and
went to one side to prepare it.
Annie looked at Nancy, then at the handcuffs on Corinneâs hands and feet, and pouted uneasily. âAre
you just going to let them handcuff you like this?â
Corinne shrugged and smiled indifferently. âIâm a suspect now, so itâs understandable for the police to
do this and stop me from escaping.â
Annie huffed in anger. âSuspect, my foot! Youâd never stoop to something so low! This makes me so
bad!â
Corinne was stunned for a moment, and she felt a little sad when she saw how much Annie believed
her even though they did not spend much time together. Jeremy, on the other handâ¦
Perhaps there was no point thinking about him at such a time.
She had stopped thinking about it when Annie somehow brought it up angrily. And then thereâs the
heartless Uncle Jeremy! Fern at wh a time, he still figh

Corinne only managed to get half of it, and it was natural for her to feel curious. âWhat did he do?â
