Chapter 318
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 318
âI was just guessing. Youâve been so nice to me recently and not to mention Iâm your wife in name, so I
knew for sure that you were going to help me out. Except for you, thereâs no one else in the world
whoâd help me find a new witness like that,â explained Corinne in a flattering way.
Jeremy glanced coldly at her. âDid you really know for sure that I was going to help you out for sure?â
âOf course! Iâve always known that,â Corinne answered with a smile that did not reach her eyes.
Jeremy scoffed softly. âSo you didnât curse me in your heart when I didnât go back to the hospital to
spend time with you last night?â
Corinne did not know what to say for she did, in fact, cursed
him.
She heard from Annie yesterday that Jeremy did not come back at all after sending Anya off from the
hospital. She guessed that the two old lovers must have gotten carried away by their conversations and
did not think too much about it. However, she became upset when she thought that Jeremy was just
like everyone else who believed that she was the one who hurt Anya.
Therefore, she did curse him in her heart, but not for the reason he thought.
Jeremy took her silence to mean her admission to the accusation. He smirked provocatively and spun
the steering wheel with his hand to turn the car around the corner.

âLast night, I went to investigate something, and when I came back, you were already asleep. Then, I
needed to attend to some urgent matter in the morning, so I left before you woke up,â explained
Jeremy.
Corinne was stunned and thought, âHe came back last night?â
âYou donât believe me?â Jeremy asked with a raise of his brow.
Corinne snapped out of her stupor and shook her head. âNo, I believe you. You have no reason to lie to
me. Anyways, I just want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to help me find the new
witness.â
Jeremy glanced at her and saw the forced polite smile on her face. âTommy was the one who was in
charge of finding the witness since I had my hands full with another matter.â
âWhat matter can be so important that it requires you to personally attend to it?â Corinne asked with a
frown.
âI thought youâre good at guessing, so why donât you take a guess?â
Corinneâs eyebrows knitted. How could she possibly guess when she had nothing to go on?
âForget it. Iâm not going to guess. It probably has something. to do with Miss Anya since youâre willing
to personally investigate the matter. I donât need to know the details since it has nothing to do with me.â
As soon as she said that, Jeremy put on the emergency brake, causing the car to skid to the pavement,
and the tires to screech loudly. Corinne instinctively and fearfully clung to her seat belt to avoid being
flung around inside the car.

âWhat the hell is going on?â she thought once the car came to a halt. She looked sideways at Jeremy
with a frown on her head. Whatâs the matter with him this time?â
Jeremyâs cold, handsome face was as black as thunder. He narrowed his eyes at her and said,
âNothing to do with you?
Donât tell me you seriously think that everything I do has nothing to do with you?â
âHuh? Are you saying that it has something to do with me?â asked Corinne curiously.
Jeremy slowly unbuckled his seat belt. His eyes were cold. â Corinne Carew, do you not listen to all the
things Iâve said to you?â
Corinne became even more puzzled. âNo, I do listen. Itâs just that sometimes, I donât really understand
why you do some of the things you do. For example, this is one of those times.â
âYou can always ask if you donât understand!â said Jeremy angrily.
Corinne still did not understand where his sudden anger was coming from, and she in turn became
angry too.
âI have no right to ask since Iâm not your real wife. Itâs better if
âWhat did you say?â
Corinne froze for a moment. Then, she frowned and said, â Anyaâ¦â
