Chapter 323
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 323
Suddenly, Corinneâs stomach gave out an embarrassing growl -she was hungry.
Half of Jeremyâs anger vanished when he heard her stomach growling. He looked at her with his
intense eyes and patted her head. âOkay then, we can start with having a meal together. What do you
want to eat?â
âStart with having a meal together? What does he mean?â Corinne wondered. Jeremyâs words made
her feel a little uncomfortable. âDoes he mean what I think he means? Should I ask him? No! I donât
want him to think that Iâm getting the wrong idea about the whole thing.â
Corinne rubbed her hungry stomach and looked away from him. âIâm okay with anything, but Iâm too
tired to walk anymore.â
As soon as she finished speaking, Jeremy scooped her up and carried her in a horizontal position.
Corinne was stunned. She turned beet red. âMisterâ¦what are you doing?â
Jeremy began to walk along the bridge with her in his arms. He looked down at her and said, âDidnât
you say youâre tired of walking?â
Corinne was nonplussed. âWhat I meant was you should call someone to come and pick us up quickly
instead of carrying me like this!â
âWhat you ultimately want is to not walk, so what difference does it make if I carry you or if a car carries
you?â said Jeremy without breaking his stride.
The corner of Corinneâs mouth started twitching. What Jeremy said was irrefutable.
âNo, Mister. Iâm embarrassed by this. Weâre on the Yonder
Bridge, for godâs sake. Every car passing by will think weâre crazy. They might even post our pictures
on the Internet. Weâll have no choice but to hide under the rock should that happen.â
âWeâre legally married, so thereâs nothing to be ashamed of.â
âBut donât you see how embarrassing this is for me?â
âDonât worry. Any videos or photos that have my face in them cannot be posted without my permission.â
Corinne was speechless. âThe videos and photos are beside the point! Why canât he just see how
embarrassing this is for me? People are definitely going to think weâre crazy for doing this on the
Yonder Bridge.â
She could not break free, and at the same time, she did not want to experience a social death, so she
decided to bury her face in Jeremyâs chest like an ostrich. Jeremy would be the only one being
humiliated as long as she did not show her face.
After a while, Corinne sensed that the wind had died down considerably, so she turned her head and
glanced around to discover that they were no longer on the bridge. She immediately sighed with relief.
âThank you, Mister. You must be tired of carrying me, so why donât you let me down? I donât mind
walking now,â she said, hoping he would listen to her.
Jeremy leaned over and put her down safely. His eyes were twinkling mischievously when he said,
âJust so you know, I didnât put you down âcause I was tired of carrying you. In fact, you were as light as
a feather.â
Corinne simply rolled her eyes. âYeah sure, that is if the feather weighs thirtyâsix kilograms.â
Jeremy laughed softly and stroked her hair. âOh, what am I going to do with you?â
Corinne was stunned and she turned beet red. âHeâs such a flirt! Good thing I donât fall for this kind of
thing. If notâ¦â
She then looked around. âI donât think itâll be that easy to get a taxi here. There should be a subway
station further up ahead. Letâs go, Mister. Weâll take the subway to the restaurant for dinner.â
Jeremy was willing to do whatever she said, so the two of them made their way to the subway station.
Once there, they lined up to buy their tickets from the automatic ticket machine. Corinne was just about
to buy tickets when Jeremy deftly pushed some buttons, and the machine instantly spat out a pair of
Line 7 subway cards that would allow them to pass through the central business district.
Seeing this, Corinne could not help but recall the time when Jeremy took the subway with her because
the traffic was too congested to drive, as well as how he had to call Tommy for help in buying the
tickets.
âMister, you seem to know your way around the subway lines now.â
