Chapter 358
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 358
Jeremy narrowed his eyes at Anya before turning back to face Corinne with a questioning look, asking
her what he should do.
Corinne furrowed her brow. âWhy is he looking at me like that again? What⦠Is he asking me to be the
bad guy here âcause heâs too embarrassed to turn down his âsaviorâ? Man, heâs really devious, huh? Oh
well, Iâll help him out this one time, seeing as how heâs been really nice to me for the past
few days.â
Corinne rested her chin on one hand and lazily turned to look at Anya. âMiss Anya, you know that your
brotherâs subordinate canât be late to work, yet you donât seem to realize that this applies to your
Jeremy, too.â
The combination of the word âyourâ and âJeremyâ caused the man beside her to frown.
Anya felt wronged. The corners of her eyes turned down, making her look even more fragile and
innocent. âNo, Corinne. I didnât mean it like that⦠I just thought that itâll be fine if Jeremy is late since
heâs the boss of the company, whereas Edmund is just an ordinary worker who has to clock. in at work
on time. Lucas has a strict system in place and will punish anyone whoâs late to work.â
Corinne smirked. âOh my, youâre certainly very considerate of others. No wonder the people around
you are so willing to go through fire and water for you. However, youâve forgotten one thing. It was your
brother who sent Edmund here, so heâs technically on the clock, therefore he shouldnât be punished if
heâs late to the office. Besides, I believe that Edmund wouldnât have worked with your brother for so
many years if your brother was this harsh to his rightâhand man.â
Here, Corinne took a yawn before adding, âBut Iâm fine if Jeremy is willing to give you a ride âcause itâs
true what you saidâyour house is along the way to his office after all.â
She smirked before turning around and raising her eyebrows mischievously at Jeremy. âAm I right,
Mister?â
Jeremy did not answer her. Instead, he coldly ordered, âTommy, please send Miss Anya back to
her house.â
âYes, Mister Jeremy.â
Anyaâs gaze faltered when she heard that. âJeremy, arenât you going to the office today? Canât you just
give me a ride? You donât have to trouble Tommyâ¦â she said in a manner that made it obvious to
anyone there that she was pretending to not want to trouble Tommy.
Jeremy remained indifferent to Anya. He gestured with his chin at Corinne. âThe little rascal is getting
jealous, so I think itâs best if I donât give you a ride.â
Corinne was speechless. âHello, Iâm jealous? Mister is way out of line. How can he use me like that
when heâs the one who doesnât want to give a ride to Anya? Thatâs emotional blackmailing!â
Anya was a little stunned. Her eyes were filled with hurt, and she was about to say something more
when Tommy beat her to it. He raised his hand slightly as a gesture of invitation and said, â Miss Anya,
please follow me out. Iâll take you home right away.â
Anya had no choice but to smile awkwardly, even though the expression of unwillingness was written
all over her face. âAlright, then. Sorry for taking up your time, Jeremy. Iâll leave with Tommy now, she
said politely.
Jeremy nodded and did not spare another glance at her.
Anya mentally gritted her teeth before smiling at Corinne. âBye, Corinne. Iâll come another day to visit
you.â
âOff you go, then said Corinne.
Anya was speechless. She marched away angrily with Edmund following behind her.
