Chapter 427
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 427
âYou should just live your life as a wealthy manâs wife and forget about the past. I once promised your
mother that I would not let her enemy find you so that her soul can rest in peace in heaven,â said
Marvin.
Corinne was stunned to hear her father
â
who did not show her any affection before something like this to her. âMaybe heâs being nice to me
âcause he still has feelings for my mom,â she thought.
Corinne smiled and said, âThank you for telling me that. Iâll live a good life and protect myself.
Goodbye, Mister Carew.â
She then walked out of the room at a leisurely pace.

Marvin frowned and let out a long sigh. The fact that Corinne grew up to be twenty years old meant that
he already did his part in keeping her safe, just as he promised Emily. It would not be any more of his
responsibility should anything happen to Corinne in the future for that girl already spread her wings and
fly.
A few burly men were moving the engagement gifts out of the Carewâs mansion downstairs.
âHey! Who are you people? How dare you barge in here and steal our stuff? Put them down! All this
stuff belongs to me! You canât take them away!â shouted Sherlyn hysterically.
âSheâs right! You canât take our stuff away! Iâm going to call the police if you donât put them. down and
leave our house right away!â said Lilliana.
Corinne walked leisurely down the stairs and said, âI was the one who ordered them to take the
engagement gifts away.â
Sherlyn looked up and glared at her with red eyes. âCorinne, you b*tch! What right do you have to take
our stuff away?â
Corinne smiled. âOf course, I have a right since the engagement gifts were given to me by my husband.
Donât you think thatâs reason enough?â
Sherlyn gritted her teeth. âNot only did you steal my man but now youâre stealing away the engagement
gifts? I swear to god, Corinne, that Iâm going to kill you if itâs the last thing I do!â
She then pounced on her but Lilliana who was the calmer of the two-stopped her.â
â
Sherlyn, calm down! Donât do anything impulsive!â
âWhat is it now? Whatâs all the fuss about? When will the two of you ever give me some peach and
quiet?â
Marvin heard the commotion downstairs so he came down from his study to take a look.
Marvin thought about it and answered, âJust one more.â
âAnd that is?â
âYour mother loves art. Sheâs quite a well-known painter in the country and the name she used to sign
off her paintings is Nellie Nymphaea.â
âI already know about this.â
âAs far as I know, the teacher who taught your mother to paint is the world-famous painter, Michel. If
you can get a hold of him, he might be able to tell you more about your mother.â
Corinne nodded. âOkay, I know what I have to do now. Thank you for telling me all this, Mister Carew.â
She then got up and was heading out of the study when Marvin called out her name.
âCorinne.â
Corinne stopped walking and looked back at him. âDo you have anything else to add, Mister Carew?â
Marvin looked at Corinne â who looked more and more like Em â with mixed emotions. Corinne was
the child of his first love. On one hand, he wanted to love her as much as he loved Em but on the other,
he was at the same time repulsed by the fact that the childâs father was another man. That was why he
did not hesitate to send Corinne to live in the countryside. Out of sight, out of mind, so to speak.
Marvin frowned and said, âDonât say I didnât warn you but itâs best if you donât look for mother.â
âWhy is that?â
âI donât know what exactly happened to your mother but she repeatedly told me that no matter what, no
one should ever find out youâre her daughter. âCause otherwise, youâll be killed.â
