Chapter 435
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 435
Corinne nodded. âThank you.â
As usual, she walked slowly up the stairs but halfway through, she stopped, turned around, and asked,
âBy the way, Bowen. Have my things arrived?â
Corinne arranged the engagement gifts she got back from the Carews to be delivered to Holdenâs
estate.
âYes, maâam. Iâve already asked the maids to keep it in the storeroom. Would you like to take a look?â
Corinne waved her hand. âThatâs okay. Just remember to tell Jeremy about it when heâs back.â
âYes, maâam.â
She then continued on her way. The reason she got the expensive engagement gifts back was so that
she would not own the Holdens anything.
Bowen looked quizzically at Corinne walking up the stairs. He sensed there was something off about
her but he could not quite put his finger on just what it was. âOh well, itâs probably nothing,â he thought.
Then he quickly went to the kitchen to instruct the cook to make something for Corinne.
Before he left, Jeremy specially told him what to look out for in Corinneâs diet. She was allergic to quite
a few things so he told Bowen to doubly make sure no food that would trigger her allergy should make
way to her plate and because of this, Bowen would personally try all the food before giving it to
Corinne.
â
After taking a shower in her room, Corinne changed into a set of loungewear. Then she ate the lunch
brought by the maid and proceeded to take a nap. She felt easily tired as of late which she now knew
the reason to be because she was pregnant.
A feeling of unbelievable comfort spread through her body as soon as her head hit the pillow.â Iâm going
to miss this bed so much,â thought Corinne, who got used to sleeping in the big bed.
Eventually, she dozed off while planning for her future.
It was late at night. The air turned cold and the wind was blowing fiercely.
Bowen got woken up by the sound of the wind and he immediately ordered the servants to check all
the windows were closed properly so that no dirt or cold air could blow in and disturb Corinneâs sleep.
At that moment, from the first floorâs floor-to-ceiling windows, a carâs headlight could be
seen shining into the yard and the sound of the carâs engine was getting closer and closer.
Bowen took a closer look at the car and realized it was Jeremyâs car. âWhy did he choose to come back
at midnight?â he wondered.
After a few minutes, Jeremy walked in hurriedly.
Bowen greeted him at the door. âWelcome back, Mister Jeremy.â
Jeremy took off his coat â which was still cold from the night air servant standing next to him.
and passed it to the
âThank you. Where is she?â
Bowen naturally knew who he was referring to. âMister Jeremy, sheâs probably sleeping at this
hour.â
âOkay,â replied Jeremy lightly. He then walked past the servant and made a beeline upstairs.
He thought about her ever since she called him in the morning. In the end, he could not help but rush
back to see her. It was rare for Corinne to admit she missed him; that simple. admission of hers was
like a hook digging into his heart, luring him back to her.
He strode upstairs and not wanting to wake her up, he lightened his footsteps as he neared her room.
He turned the doorknob and was delighted to find it was not locked. âWhy that little
rascal doesnât lock the door when Iâm not home.â
He massaged the space between his brows, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Then, he opened the
door and walked in quietly. The room was dark and the wind was blowing fiercely outside. There was
no moonlight filtering in, making everything seem so surreal.
âHey, little rascal. Iâm back,â whispered Jeremy gently. He sat down beside the bed and looked at the
spot where she always slept. However, there was no reply. âShe must be sleeping very deeply,â he
thought.
