Chapter 450
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 450
âIf I leave the office now Iâd bump into Anya and Jeremy! What should I do?â thought Corinne.
Lucas looked at the panicking Corinne and thought he liked her better this way. âSheâs way cuter like
this than when sheâs all huffy-puffy,â he raised his eyebrow and said mockingly, âSo the great and
mighty Corinne does know how to panic as well.â
Corinne was speechless. She was not in the mood for Lucasâs mockery. âD*mmit! Of all the things Iâve
expected to go wrong, this is certainly one I didnât see coming.â
She banked on the fact that the Holdens and the Riveras were at odds with each other. Therefore, she
was confident Jeremy would not appear in the company. She even remembered the bad vibe clashing
in the air whenever Jeremy and Lucas were in the same room.
âThings must be going well between Jeremy and Anya in the one month I was gone. Maybe the elders
have started to accept each other? If thatâs true, thatâll explain why theyâre getting engaged so soon,â
thought Corinne, clenching her fists.
Lucas narrowed his eyes. Not giving a d*mn about Corinneâs feelings, he then said to Edmund, âLet
them in!â
âYes, Mister Lucas.â
âSh*t! Theyâre coming in!â Corinne started to scan the room for somewhere to hide as the door opened
bit by bit. She did not want to see Jeremy or have any contact with him!
Finally, without asking for Lucasâs permission, she ran over and hid behind the large bookshelf that was
behind Lucasâs desk. She heaved a sigh of relief after she hid herself.
Not even a few seconds later, she heard Anyaâs voice in the room.
âLucas, why did you ask me to rush over here? Was there an emergency?â asked Anya softly. Her
voice was as harmless as a newborn deer.
âOh, itâs nothing. Itâs just that youâve been spending so much time with Jeremy that you rarely come
home anymore. I was starting to worry that youâd forgotten all about me.â
His voice was so much warmer than when he was speaking to Corinne just moments ago. However,
there was a little bit of jealousy mixed in with the adoration he had for his little
sister.
âYou know thatâs not true, Lucas! How can you say that I rarely go home anymore when Iâm home
every night?â said Anya, blushing madly.
âYeah, but you go out every day at seven in the morning. I donât even come to work that early! And you
only come home when itâs close to midnight. Plus, you eat dinner outside so thatâs as good as not
being at home in my eyes,â replied Lucas with a scoff.
Anya walked around the desk and jumped onto Lucasâs lap. âThatâs because I have something to do.
Itâs not like I purposely donât want to be at home.â
Lucas hugged his beloved little sister. âJust admit it! You have no room for anyone for your fiance.â
âLucas!â Anya buried her head shyly in Lucasâs chest.
else except
Lucas patted her on the head with a look of resignation on his face. He then looked up at the man who
came in with Anya and nodded at him as a way of greeting.
âJeremy, thanks for bringing my sister over.â
âDonât mention it,â said Jeremy with a nod. He was standing with both of his hands casually shoved into
his pockets.
At that moment, Corinne felt as though her chest was being pressed down by a thousand- pound rock.
This was the first time in a month she heard Jeremyâs voice again and she did not know what to feel.
From the corner of his eye, Lucas glanced at the bookshelf behind him through the reflection on the
computer screen, and his expression suddenly became sly.
âJeremy, I would like to discuss with you about your engagement with my sister. Are you free to talk
now?â
