Chapter 593
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 593
âYes, sir!â
Anya struggled stubbornly in Lucasâs arms, and tears started to well up
in her eyes.
âNo⦠Iâm fine, Lucas! I need to perform! Iâve already told Grandpa Iâve prepared a special gift for his
birthday. Heâll be very disappointed in me if I donât show up onstage. You know how long Iâve taken to
prepare this gift, Lucasâ¦â
Lucas frowned and chastised, âBe a good girl, Anya! Iâll explain the situation to Grandpa for you.
Nothing is as important as your health right now, so stop making such a big fuss!â
Anya cried, âNo, Lucas! I donât want to! Iâve been looking forward to this for a long time! I donât want to
give up now⦠Let me go, Lucas! I want to go on stage! I want to perform! I swear Iâm fineâ¦â
Anya flailed about, hindering Lucas from moving forward. Nothing he said could persuade her, and
there was nothing he could do about her situation.
Rosie looked at the situation, feeling worried about her best friendâs injury and the headache that her
dream man Lucas had to face. She got angrier with every passing thought, and once her rage had
reached its peak, she went over and shoved Corinne forcefully, causing the latter to stagger several
steps.
âYouâre the cause of all this, Corinne! Look at what youâve done to Anya. Youâve made all of Anyaâs
sacrifices go to waste, and you need to take responsibility for this!â
Corinne stood firm, brushed the spot Rosie touched, and said, âMiss Rosie, I hope youâll be more
respectful with your words and how you carry yourself. I refuse to entertain baseless accusations, and I
wonât take responsibility for something I did not do.â
Her continued refusal to admit her wrongdoings angered Rosie to the point of wanting to push her a
second time.
However, Corinne succeeded in calmly avoiding her.
Rosie failed to place her hand on Corinne and almost fell face-flat to the ground!
âH-how dare you avoid me?! Anya hurt her foot because you pushed her down! Youâre the reason she
canât perform now, and youâre still being so smug with me?â
Lucas stared coldly at Corinne with mixed feelings of gloom and anger. He kept quiet for the time being
and focused entirely on his sisterâs injury. Corinne sensed Lucasâs condemning gaze and felt like
laughing when she saw Anyaâs stubborn refusal to deal with the injury.
Other people could not see it, but Corinne could tell that Anya was simply putting on an act to make
Lucas feel heartbroken for her. That way, Lucas could get angry at Corinne and chase her
away.
âI didnât push Miss Anya. You can call the police if you donât believe me and let them Investigate the
situation. I have no issues cooperating with an investigation, but I wonât accept this unfounded blame to
be put on me.â
Rosie snorted coldly. âNo evidence, you say? Just because there arenât any surveillance cameras here
doesnât mean you can get away with it! Iâm a witness, and the police will accept my testimony when
theyâre here! You wanted me to call the police, didnât you? Well, just wait! Iâll do just that!â
Corinne remained calm and fearless while waiting for Rosie to call the police. However, Anya stretched
out her hand while she was still in Lucasâs arms, saying, âDonât call the police, Rosie. Corinne probably
didnât mean to do it, and I donât want there to be any trouble at Grandpaâs birthday party, especially not
when it would become an embarrassment to everyone. Just forget it and put your phone away.â
âBut, sheâ¦â
Rosie knew that Anya had a good point since calling the police at the old manâs birthday party would
only ruin the moment. Even so, she was unwilling to let that damned Corinne leave just like that.
Despite her aggrievance, Anya insisted, âCould you just come here and persuade Lucas to let me go? I
need to go on stage. If I canât make it, thenâ¦â
Lucasâs expression sank, and he hugged the injured Anya tightly to keep her from moving.â Anya!â
Anya continued to insist on going onstage despite the injury, and Rosie felt sorry for her best. friend
and was just as worried about her as Lucas was.
All of a sudden, an idea popped up in Rosieâs mind, and she said with a smug expression, Youâre the
reason for Anyaâs injury, so since she canât go onstage, Anya might be kind enough to let you off the
hook if you can help salvage the situation!â
Corinne cocked her eyebrow and asked curiously, âSalvage the situation? How?â
