Chapter 605
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 605
Anya tried her best not to look guilty, but her expression was very awkward as she responded to Edgar
âGrandpa, Iâ¦â
Rosieâcollected her thoughts rapidly and spoke for her best friend.
âDonât listen to Corinneâs nonsense, Mister Edgar. She couldnât have sung Farewell, My Loveâ earlier.
Does she look like someone who could sing opera? Sheâs just an ordinary employee in Lucasâs
company who came from a poor background in the countryside. She wouldnât have had the chance to
learn opera because her family is so poor!â
Rosie then turned to Corinne, glared at her, and belittled her sarcastically.
âYouâre just jealous because you saw Anya getting the applause and appreciation from Mister Edgar
and the guests. Thatâs why you came over to take the credit and make yourself known!
âDo you think anyone will believe your oneâsided statement that you were the singer earlier? The other
performers can testify that the one who just came on stage was Anya!â
Rosieâs ârighteousnessâ made Edgar a little skeptical. He frowned and asked, âWhich one of you sang
Farewell, My Love?â
Before Corinne and Anya could answer, Rosie spoke up again.
âIt was Anya, of course! You shouldnât listen to Corinneâs nonsense because of her questionable
character. She works for Lucas but doesnât put any effort into her work. All she does is seduce men to
try and climb the social ladder!
âShe tried and failed to seduce Anyaâs boyfriend, Jeremy, and she failed again when she tried to
seduce Lucas! I donât know whatâs with her, but she came here today to seduce and deceive other
men!
âWait here. Iâll have someone gather the other performers to prove that the one who appeared on stage
for Farewell, My Loveâ was Anya!â
Before long, Rosie sent someone to call the performers over. As expected, Rosie had spoken with
them beforehand, so they all insisted that the one who sang âFarewell, My Loveâ was Miss Anya. That
was also why Rosie was so confident in sending someone to call them over there.
Corinne did not bother to explain, so she simply smiled and shrugged. âSure. Then, just treat what I
said as a lie. If thereâs nothing else, Iâll happily take my leave.â
Rosie secretly smiled triumphantly. âYou think you can play dirty with me? Keep dreaming if you think
you can steal the limelight from Anya! Youâd better scram!â
However, Edgar did not completely forgo his suspicions and narrowed his sharp eyes to tell Corinne,â
Wait. Donât go just yet!â
Corinne stopped again. âIs there anything else I can help you with, sir?â
Rosie became a little when she heard that and interjected, âMister Edgar, why do you need to ask her
to stay when itâs been proven that sheâs lying? Just tell her to get lost!â
Edgar glanced at Rosie with a stern gaze. âPeople can lie, but their voices can never liel Since both
claim they sang âFarewell, My Loveâ, letâs have them sing a couple of lines for me. I can tell who the
real singer is by their voice!â
Anya, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, faced yet another crisis. Her face was stiff, but she tried
her best to maintain her composure and pinched her best friendâs hand, whose plan backfired severely.
Rosie could sense Anyaâs grudgingness and began to panic. She did not expect things to end up that
way. so she hurriedly said, âMister Edgar, Anyaâs sprained her foot, and the doctor told her to rest. Iâm
afraid she wonât be able to sing anymore.â
