Chapter 742
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 742
Aaron shrugged his shoulders. âIâm just curious to know how you took him down.â
Corinne was speechless.
Xante came over with a cup of coffee and kicked Aaron. âBuzz off! Canât you see that sheâs going over
some workârelated documents? Why are you bringing up such pointless things?â
Aaron patted the side of his trousers that had been kicked, seemingly disgusted by the dirt on the soles
of Xanteâs high heels.
Xante placed the coffee cup on the desk and pushed it to Corinneâs hand. âDid you really reconcile with
Mister Jeremy last night?â
Corinne kept quiet.
Aaron rolled his eyes. âTch! Youâve got some nerve to ask that question after you kicked me for doing
the same thing! Arenât you just as curious as I am?â
Corinne did not entertain their gossip and turned to the last page of the financial statement in her hand.
âNot bad! The financial report for the second half of the year has improved a lot compared to the first
half of the year. Youâve both worked very hard. We still need to expand on the real estate development
projects in the south, since weâre still far behind some of the more experienced real estate groups.â
Xante has always been very focused and dedicated when it came to work. She nodded after hearing
that and said, âUnderstood!â
Corinne closed the folder and took a sip of coffee.
Xante suddenly remembered something and reported to her, âBy the way, boss, the Holden. Groupâs
previous design commission for their new office building has been completed. Theyâre very satisfied
with the final version of the design you provided, and weâll be in charge of the towerâs construction
project, too.â
Corinne sipped her coffee pensively. After a moment, she said, âIâll handle the construction. project and
keep tabs on it.â
Xante was a little surprised and adjusted the goldârimmed spectacles on her face. âAre you sure you
want to scrutinize the construction project in person? Youâll be exposed to the elements at the
construction site, not to mention the possible dangers of falling objects. Youâre pregnant now, so-â
Corinne narrowed her eyes sternly. âI know what Iâm doing. Nothingâs going to happen.â
Xante wanted to persuade her not to overexert herself while pregnant, but Aaron nudged her arm
before she could say anything.
âCanât you see, Xante? Holden Group used to be just a client, but Jeremy is her man now. Sheâll only
feel at ease if she supervises the project in person!â
Corinne was speechless. Aaronâs words were very obnoxious at times.
Xante finally understood what was happening, but she still expressed her concern. âI can send our
people to keep a close watch on the progress so you donât need to put yourself at any risk.â
Corinne remained steadfast in her decision and waved her hand slightly. âThereâs no need for that. Iâll
supervise it myself.â
She had done the same for the Crescent Tower.
Although she could easily entrust the project to one of the subsidiary construction companies, such a
large project required so much of material and manpower that it would be inevitable for the other
company to cut corners.
Should everything go well, Holden Groupâs new office building would be the place where Jeremy would
work for the next few decades. During that period, no one could guarantee that New Capital City would
be free of any natural or manâmade disasters.
She wanted his longâterm workplace to be safe without any hidden dangers. She would thus feel more
reassured if she personally saw the project through to completion.
Aaron suddenly leaned over, put his arms on the desk, and looked up at her while pretending to be
jealous. âSeeing you doting on Mister Jeremy so much makes me jealous, boss!â
Corinne came back to her senses, raised the folder in her hand, and patted Aaronâs head. â Canât you
be a little less shameless? Youâre becoming more unruly recently! Youâre not young anymore, so you
should learn to grow up! And touch some grass if you have time to spare!â
Xante sneered and said gloatingly, âYeah!â
Aaron rubbed his forehead. âBold of you to chastise me, Xante. You and I are the same, and youâre not
that good a person either!
