Chapter 760
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 760
Jeremy was still hugging Corinne, so he could not hold Joey. Instead, he said coldly to Anya,â Why
donât you bring Joey to the guest room? Itâs not good for him to be out and about when he has a fever.â
Anya was angered by Jeremy choosing Corinne over Joey. âJeremy, arenât you going to give Joey a
hug? Heâs been crying for you nonstop. Oh, I get it now. Youâre worried about Corinne getting jealous,
arenât you?â
She then turned to Corinne and pleaded pitifully, âCorinne, wonât you let Joey have some time with his
father? He really needs him right nowâ¦â
Jeremy was about to say something, but Corinne beat him to it. âHey, Iâm not the one keeping him from
Joey. Heâs a grown man. He can choose who he wants to spend time with, and it just so happens he
chose me.â
She leaned lazily against Jeremy and crossed her legs, treating him like a human-shaped armchair.
âYou surprised me today, Miss Anya. Iâve always thought youâre a fragile woman, but it took you no time
to run over her with Joey in your arms. Why, it hasnât even been a hot minute after Jeremy hung up on
you.â
Anya found it harder to hide the hatred she had for Corinne. She forced herself to squeeze out a smile.
âWell, one learns how to become stronger after one becomes a mother. Which is something you
wouldnât know, Corinne. Since youâre not a mother yourself.â
âOh, please! As if she deserves to be called a mother!â thought Corinne. She broke out in a mocking
smile as she stood up from Jeremyâs lap. âOh, Miss Anya. Your words have so moved me. How can I
keep little Joey away from his father? Here, let his father carry him.â
She then turned to look at Jeremy with her eyebrow raised. âMister, what are you still waiting there for?
Your kid is crying for you!â
Instead of moving, Jeremy simply stared at Corinne with narrowed eyes.
After Corinne got up, Anya immediately ran up to Jeremy with Joey in her arms.
âJeremy, Joey really, really needs you. Heâs been calling for you the whole time you were away.
Jeremy looked at Joey with a frown and said impatiently to Anya, âLike I said, you should bring him to
the guest room first. Me carrying him wonât cure him of his fever. All the windows are open on his floor.
Arenât you afraid that the cold will make his fever worse?â This shocked Anya. Yes, it was true he
always treated her coldly, but never had he ever spoken to her impatiently. âItâs all that stupid b*tchâs
fault!â she thought.
Anya placed Joey on the sofa before taking out a bracelet from her pocket.
âJeremy, do you still remember this bracelet? You gave it to me after I saved your life, and you told me I
can count on you to get me out of any difficulties as long as I come to you with this bracelet. You swore
youâd protect me at all costs,â said Anya while wiping away her tears.
She then placed the bracelet on top of Jeremyâs palm. âI know youâre with Corinne now and have no
time for me anymoreâ¦so Iâm giving this bracelet back to you. I promise you I wonât bother you
anymoreâ¦â
Jeremyâs face changed when he saw the bracelet in his hand. That bracelet used to belong to his late
mother, and he had kept it with him all throughout his childhood.
Jeremy was found by his men on the seventh day after Anya saved him, while she was nowhere to be
seen by then. He wanted to thank her, so he ordered one of his men to remain at the spot. to wait for
Anya to come back and to give her the bracelet, along with the message for her to come to him for help
whenever she was troubled.
