Chapter 810
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 810
Corinne raised her eyebrow and smirked at Lucas. âWhat makes you think I care about how you
treated me before?
Lucas fell silent. He hated himself so much for how badly he treated Corinne, and it would make sense
if Corinne would not want to accept him as her brother. As much as he knew Corinne wanted to do with
him or the entire Rivera family, he wished for nothing more than for her to come back home so he could
make amends.
Lucas sighed and asked gently, âCorinne, what can I do to make you forgive me and to make you come
home?â
Corinne was unmoved by his rare display of submission, even though it was so different from his usual
arrogant attitude.
âMister Lucas, Iâve said that I donât blame you for all the misunderstandings or how you
treated me. To me, you were just a stranger who happened to share the same blood with me, and now,
weâre just acquaintances at the most. And as strangers, I find it normal that youâd be suspicious or even
hate me, so thereâs no need to lower your pride and beg me for forgiveness. Thatâs not a good look on
you.â
Lucas was speechless, and he never felt so lost before.
Get it through your head that Iâll never come back to live here or see any one of you as my family. This
doesnât have anything to do with how you treated me previously,â added Corinne. âFrom what I know,
your grandparents thought I was a child born out of another man that isnât your father. They even took
me to do a paternity test to force my mother to leave, so why should I take up the Rivera name?â
Lucasâ eyes focused on this. âYou remember what happened years ago?â
âHow could she remember all that mess when she was so little then?â wondered Lucas.
âI donât remember, but Iâve looked into the matter. Right now, I only know the surface of it, but I swear to
make the person who wronged my mother pay once I find out who it is! As for you, Mister Lucas, you
and your entire family are accomplices to the culprit who forced my
mother to leave.â
Lucasâ eyes started to tremble. After a brief silence, he sighed and said, âCorinne, you donât have to
keep digging into the matter anymore. Iâll tell you everything you want to know.â
Corinneâs eyes lit up. âReally? Tell me now who it was that soiled my motherâs name.â
Lucas looked at her with eyes filled with mixed emotions. âNo one soiled her name, because all the
evidence back then pointed to our mother making a mistake she shouldnât have.â
Corinneâs eyes darkened. âEvidence? Ha! That means you think Iâm an affair baby, too?â
Lucas shook his head. âNo, youâre not. Youâre my sister, true and true, butâ¦our mother did make a
mistake then, so no one wronged her.â
Corinne scoffed. âOh shut it, Mister Lucas. Please donât call yourself my brother or call me your sister.
Iâm not your sister! Your sister is Anya. Donât get me mixed up with her!â
âWhat a joke he is! I donât want an older brother who doesnât believe in our mother. No way
am I going to believe my mother is someone whoâll have an affair. They couldnât have found. anything
that indicated that. Besides, someone couldâve planted the evidence if they were hellbent on framing
my mother!â thought Corinne.
Lucasâ eyes dimmed. âListen, whatâ¦â
However, before he could say what he wanted to say, Corinne cut in, âExcuse me, but Iâm tired. now, so
Iâm going to go downstairs to ask Grandpa Cedric to allow me to rest in the guest room. Move aside,
Mister Lucas.â
Lucas sighed helplessly. âYou can rest in this room if youâre tired. No one will bother you here. Iâll come
get you when itâs dinner time, Lu-â
