Chapter 816
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 816
Anyaâs eyes lit up
when her mother mentioned miscarriages.
âSheâs right. Weâll just have to sneak the saffron into Corinneâs food at tonightâs dinner and, boom! Her
baby will be gone!â
However, since all of her previous plans came to a fruitless end, she did not feel as confident as she
did last time. âBut what if someone finds out itâs the saffron that caused her miscarriage?â she asked
worriedly.
âDonât worry. Iâll just say I did it should anyone find out about it. I can just pretend I didnât know Corinne
was pregnant, and thatâs why I gave her some saffron to try,â said Phoebe smugly.
Knowing her mother had her back, Anya finally felt at ease.
âOkay, wait here, Mommy. Iâll go get the saffron now. Try to put as much as you can in Corinneâs foodâ¦
I want to see her bleed out all the blood she has.â
Meanwhile, in Lunaâs room.
Corinne was resting on the small bed with her head against the headboard. She scanned every corner
of the room to see if her memory could be jogged. However, nothing called up a strong sense of
familiarity to her except for the broken music box.
Suddenly, her phone rang. As expected, it was Jeremy video-calling in to check in on her.
âWhat are you doing now?â he asked in his deep, strong voice.
Jeremy was flipping through his documents while occasionally looking up at the screen. It was obvious
he was busy, yet he still made time to check in on her. That was how worried he was about her.
âIâm about to take a nap right now,â said Corinne sleepily.
Jeremy frowned and looked up from his document to give her a stern stare. âHave you forgotten what I
said to you?â
âNo, I havenât! You said Iâm not allowed to simply eat the food outside, not allowed to sleep outside, and
not allowed to drink, especially now that Iâm pregnant.â
Jeremy scoffed. âThen why are you about to take a nap at someone elseâs house?â
Corinne pouted. âI was just a bit sleepy⦠Look, Iâm still awake, arenât I? Hey, Mister⦠Lucas. told me
that this used to be my old room.â
A pained look immediately flashed across Jeremyâs eyes whenever Jeremy thought of the hardship
Corinne endured when she was a child. âSo what if it is? Are you planning to move back there?â
Corinne shook her head. âNope. I just wanted to see if I can remember anything about my childhood if I
stay here for a bit.â
âYou donât have to force yourself to remember anything. Itâs best if those unhappy memories
are forgotten. Besides, you have me now, and your future will only get better from now on.â
It was rare to hear such romantic words from Jeremyâs lips, so Corinne was understandably. stunned,
yet she could feel a sense of warmth washing over her too.
âArenât you worried your staff are going to think you have a split personality if they hear you speaking to
me like that?â she asked cheekily.
Jeremy glared at her. âIs that all you have to say to my romantic words? You do know I only ever speak
to you like that, right?â
Corinne laughed happily and blew him a kiss. âI love you, Mister.â
Jeremyâs cold heart instantly melted, which showed on his face. âYou cheeky little rascal. Remember to
call me if you need help. Iâll go there immediately.â
Corinne nodded. âYes, sir! Iâm going to hang up now. Bye.â
After that, she immediately hung up.
Jeremy was speechless. âWhy that little rascal! Why doesnât she ever wait for me to say goodbye
before hanging up?!â
