Chapter 878
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 878
Jason moved closer to Corinne. âHelp me get out of this arranged marriage in a way that wonât make
both sides of the family mad.â
Corinne frowned. She did not bother to conceal the disgust she felt. âYou know you can just tell her
youâre not interested, right? Why waste everybodyâs time by pretending to be a gentleman and bringing
her here to shop for bags? Itâs just going to make her think youâre interested in her.â
Jason shrugged. âI did tell her that, but she insisted it doesnât matter since we can slowly get to know
each other and âwho knows, fall in love one dayâ. Iâve taken her out to lunch and to a movieâ¦but I donât
know what else we can do. She didnât want to go home, so she dragged me out to this mall.
âCorinne, youâve always been a smart one. Can you please come up with a way to get me out of this?â
Corinne took a sip of her coffee. She then looked up and down at the exasperated Jason, thinking,
âWell, with that handsome face of his and wealthy family background, any girl would be hard-pressed to
let him go. His family mustâve chosen a girl who comes from the same family background as him, so
this doesnât only concern them but everyone on both sides of the family. Hmmâ¦this is going to be
tricky. One move, and his parents will come down hard on him.â
wrong
âIâll give it a try,â said Corinne nonchalantly.
Jason grinned. âOh, thank you! Thank you so much!â
The woman Jason was with came running back to him soon after. She must be worried about leaving
him alone with Corinne. She held up the latest bag while two beaming sales assistants followed behind.
âJason, how do I look with this bag?â
Jason glanced at the bag and nodded smilingly. âIt looks good on you.â
It sounded like a compliment on the surface, but the woman knew Jason was only paying her lip
service. Her interest was not actually in the bag but in Corinne.
She looked questioningly at her and asked, âJason, what are you guys talking about? Whoâs this lady?
Why havenât you introduced her to me?â
Social norms dictated that Jason should have introduced the two women to each other, but if he did
that, it would make it seem like he placed a huge importance on the woman his parents were trying to
set him up with. He was worried Corinne would get the wrong idea, and that was why he did not
introduce her to her.
âNow that I think about it, Iâm definitely overthinking the whole thing since Corinne has never shown any
interest in my business⦠he thought self-mockingly.
Smiling gracefully, he then introduced the two women to each other. âOh, where are my manners?
Here, let me introduce you two. This is an old friend of mine, Corinne Carew. And this here is the
daughter of my dadâs best friend, Lola Jefferson.â
âThe daughter of his dadâs best friend?â Lola was not happy with how Jason introduced her. âAm I
overthinking things, or is he trying to keep a distance from me in front of Corinne?â
âSo nice to meet you, Miss Corinne,â said Lola warmly. She decided to play nice since she still did not
know who Corinne really was.
âLikewise, Miss Lola,â Corinne replied with a smile.
Lola sat on the armrest beside Jason to stake her territory over him.
âJason, how long have you known Miss Corinne? I know almost all the socialites in New Capital City,
so
how come Iâve never seen her before? Who is her family?â she asked curiously.
It was obvious she was trying to gather intel to see whether Corinne was worthy of being her rival.
