Chapter 896
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 896
Corinneâs remark made Anyaâs face frown. She could no longer maintain the demure smile on her
face.
She only asked Corinne because Lucas did not divulge anything to Anya. However, Corinne
seemed to be insinuating that Anya had fallen out of favor with Lucas.
Anya did not want to let Corinne get away with mocking her, so she replied calmly, âYeah, youâre
right. Iâll ask Lucas later!â
Anya looked out the car window and gritted her teeth with a vicious expression.
âWeâve arrived, Corinne. Iâm going up to deliver food to my brother now. Do you want to come with
me?â
Corinne leaned back lazily and closed her eyes disinterestedly. âNo, I can wait here for you until
youâre done. But you should hurry up because Iâm not feeling very patient today.â
Anya did not insist. She was just offering out of politeness, anyway. âOkay. Wait here for me, and
donât go anywhere! I have something else to tell you later. Itâs about Jeremy!â
Corinne answered insipidly and showed little interest.
Anya glared at her casually before getting out of the car. She carried her lunch box and made her
way to the Rivera Group building.
At the door of the presidentâs office, Edmund stopped Anya and said, âWhy are you here, Miss
Anya? Didnât Mister Lucas tell you not to go to so much trouble to bring him food?â
âItâs no trouble!â Anya shook her head. âI donât have much to do at home, and Lucas is always so
busy with work. Iâm worried that he doesnât eat his meals on time. Could you go in and tell him that I
brought him his favorite stir-fries today? Itâd be great if he could eat them while theyâre still warm!â
Edmund frowned and reached out for the lunch box. âIâll help you pass it to him once heâs done with
work.â
Anya was not prepared to just hand it over like that. She looked at Edmund with a bright yet
innocent look and said, âIs he so busy that he doesnât even have time for me? He hasnât been home
for several days now, and I miss him terriblyâ¦â
Edmund felt conflicted. Apart from going to the hospital instead of going home.
Lucas did so mainly to avoid Anya as he was not interested to hear her explanations.
âMister Lucas is unfortunately very busy at work these past couple of days. He has to clock in extra
hours quite frequently. But you donât have to worry about him, though. Iâll make sure to remind him
to eat on time. Just pass the food to me.â
Anya felt like crying; she did not believe Edmund one bit. âI know it was wrong for me to lie to Lucas
before, and I also know that Iâve crossed the line when I schemed against Corinne to win Jeremyâs
heart. Iâve turned over a new leaf, I promise! I even politely invited Corinne into the car when I came
across her on the road earlier. I planned to give her a ride, and I even told the driver to send her
home! Iâm making an effort to correct my mistakes! Why is Lucas still so reluctant to see me?â
Edmundâs expression changed subtly. âAre you saying that Miss Corinne is here, too?â
Anya wanted to prove to Edmund that she had reflected on her mistakes and was actively trying to
correct them. Through that, she hoped that Edmund would put in a good word to her brother.
That was partly why she mentioned her âkindnessâ in sending Corinne back home.
Edmund, however, seemed to have focused on another thing completely. He seemed more
interested to confirm that Corinne was there!
Anya felt a little suspicious, but she nodded anyway. âYes. I saw her walking on the side of the road
earlier, so I invited her to hop in so I could give her a ride. Please let me meet Lucas, Edmund. Iâll
leave as soon as I meet him. Corinne is waiting for me to send her home!â
