Chapter 904
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Chapter 904
Lucas had experienced how stubborn Corinne could be, so he let the matter slide. He then sighed
tiredly before sharply asking, âWhat did she call you just now?â
Edmund was intimidated by Lucasâ stare. âUmm⦠She called me Edmund as usualâ¦â
âHmph!â
Anya knew there was a surveillance camera inside the elevator, so she reminded herself to tread
cautiously to avoid leaving any dirt for Lucas to hold over her head.
Thus, she refrained from saying anything to Corinne while in the elevator, but as soon as they got out
of the building and into the car, she said snarkily, âCorinne, youâre really good at having men wrapped
around your little finger, huh? Even Lucas canât escape that fate.â
âYou flatter me,â said Corinne without bothering to look at her. She then yawned before saying to the
driver, âMister, can you please drop me off at the Holdensâ first?â
Anya glared at Corinne vehemently. She hated how nonchalant she was being. âCorinne, if Iâve
guessed correctly, you and Jeremy havenât registered your marriage yet, right?â she asked with a scoff.
Corinneâs sleepy eyes suddenly widened. She narrowed her eyes and frowned at Anya.
Judging by Corinneâs response, Anya knew she was right. She smiled mysteriously and continued, âI
knew Jeremy would never get legally married to you. Oh, Corinne. So what if youâve moved in with
him? without the marriage certificate, youâre just a fake Missus Holden, and Iâm pretty sure it wonât be
long until youâre kicked out of the house.â
Anyaâs words aroused Corinneâs suspicion. âOh? How did you know heâll never get legally married to
me?â she asked seriously.
Anya looked n at Corinne in disgust. âThe Holdens will never accept a girl with a background like yours
as a Missus Holden. Prominent and wealthy families like ours are all about marrying their sons and
daughters off to partners who have similar backgrounds.
âYes, itâs true Jeremy really likes you now, but just how long will that last? A year? Two years? There
will come a day when heâs bored of you. You must think your position is secure just because youâre
carrying his baby, right? Tsk, tsk, tsk. How wrong you are.
âYou do know he could kick you out of the house and keep the baby in the family, right? He could marry
some rich heiress to be his wife and the babyâs mother. But of course, thereâs another important reason
why Jeremy wonât get legally married to you.â
Corinne raised her eyebrow. âAnd what might that be?â
She was confident Jeremy was not the type to care about his partnerâs background, but something
suspicious was definitely going on since he would be evasive whenever she brought up getting a
marriage certificate.
Anya smiled smugly. It was rare for her to have Corinneâs full attention.â Corinne, seems like you donât
really know Jeremy that well at all. Here I thought he sees you as the most important person in his life,
but he doesnât even tell you everything. Why, it doesnât even look like you know as much as me!â
Corinne was not in the mood to compete with Anya about who knew Jeremy better. Instead, she
frowned and asked, âSo whatâs the important reason?â
Anya was going to drag this out for as long as she could. That was the only way to make her happy.
âYou want to know? Well, Iâm not going to tell you. You should go ask Jeremy instead. But I donât think
heâll tell you.â
Corinne knew Anya was not going to tell her no matter how much she asked, so she just gave up. She
turned her face away and closed her eyes to take a short nap.
By the time she reached home, it was already past two oâclock in the afternoon.
