Chapter 943
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinneâs cheeks felt warm when he called her his âwifeâ. She immediately sat up and said, âI didnât
take a shower last night, so please excuse me while I freshen up.â
Jeremy chuckled as he watched her dash into the bathroom and lock the door. He got up and changed
his clothes, too.
After Corinne came out of the shower, Jeremy went in and freshened up as well. The two of them then
left the bedroom and went downstairs for breakfast.
However, Jeremy was not too happy when he saw an outsider in the dining hall.
When Pamela saw her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, she beckoned with a smile. âJeremy,
Corinne, you two should sit and have some breakfast. I made some delicious oats today! Taste it and
see if itâs to your liking.â
Corinne smiled obediently. âThank you, Grandma.â
She then looked politely at Greg and said, âGood morning, Grandpa.â
Greg was still unhappy over the previous dayâs incident and let out a disgruntled grunt.
Corinne did not take offense. She was about to sit when she realized that Jeremy did not take a seat
beside her.
She turned to look at him. As it turned out, he was staring unhappily at Chester, who sat diagonally
opposite Francine.
Pamela noticed Jeremyâs odd reaction and introduced Chester to him. âThis is Francineâs tutor. Heâll be
helping her with her studies. He came a little early today, so I told him to join us for some breakfast!â
Chester stood up politely, looked at Corinne, and said, âGood morning, Corinne.â
Corinne reciprocated with a smile. âGood morning.â
Meanwhile, Jeremy was glancing at Chester with some animosity. When Chester made eye contact
with him, there seemed to be a subtle exchange of hostility between them.
Chester was silent for a moment, but he eventually greeted Jeremy and said, âGood morning, mister!â
Jeremyâs expression became very gloomy when he heard that.
The atmosphere seemed to have changed ever so slightly.
Pamela did not understand what was going on, but she could keenly sense that Jeremy did not seem
too pleased with the new tutor.
However, Pamela soon realized that Chester had addressed Corinne rather directly. She could they
had met before. âDo you know Francineâs tutor?â
Corinne nodded. âYes. Heâs one of the top students in my university.â
Greg snorted angrily. âDid you just say âyourâ university? Thatâs still up for debate!â
Pamela shot the old man an unhappy look and chastised him softly, âCanât you keep your mouth shut
when youâre eating?â
Though Chester was not part of the family, he could still sense the insinuation in Gregâs statement.
Chester had read the previous nightâs news as well as what people were saying online. He sent
Corinne several messages to ask her what was going on, but Corinne never replied to him.
He became very worried, and he rushed to the Holdens as early as he could to see if Corinne was
doing okay.
He was a little relieved when he saw her beside Jeremy, believing that everything was fine at home.
After hearing Gregâs sarcastic remarks, however, he began to realize the reason behind the Holden
Groupâs stock market valueâs sudden plummet. At that moment, he began to worry about Corinneâs
relationship with her in-laws.
Although everyone online doubted her education history as well as her grades, he knew first-hand that
Corinneâs academic qualifications were gained from hard work. He had noticed every detail about her
when he had a crush on her.
As a result, he could not help but feel a sense of injustice on behalf of his crush.
âAll those comments about Corinne are fake. Corinne got into the university by relying on her abilities. I
can vouch for that!â
