Chapter 953
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
They were disappointed Anya lied and was baffled as to why she would do that.
Lucas narrowed his eyes at Anya after looking at the surveillance footage. âHow do you explain this,
Anya? Why is there a traffic record of you driving out of the city when youâve insisted you didnât?â
Anya became a little deflated when faced with Lucas. âThat⦠Thatâs because I didnât sleep well last
night, so I went for a drive to cheer myself up. I thought Iâd drive out of the city since itâs a quieter route,
but that doesnât mean I went to the park!â
Corinne scoffed. âMiss Anya, didnât you insist you didnât go out this morning? Why the change in tune of
your story? Which is the truth, then? Arenât you just contradicting yourself?â
Anyaâs gaze darted around. âI⦠Iâ¦â
Lucas frowned. He had completely given up on Anya.
âWhy did you sneak out of the house and choose a car your family didnât even know you had if you
were just going out for a drive to cheer yourself up?â asked Corinne. âDoesnât this just prove you didnât
want anyone to know where you were going or who you were meeting? If you have nothing to hide,
Miss Anya, why did you go through all this trouble, huh?â
Anyaâs eyes were trembling so hard they seemed about to fall out of their sockets. She could not think
of a retort at all.
âMiss Corinne, thatâs enough!â Phoebe interjected. âJust what are you trying to achieve by coming to
my house this early in the morning to sling baseless accusations at my daughter?â
Corinne looked condescendingly at her. âMiss Phoebe, Iâm not slinging baseless accusations at your
daughter. In fact, I think sheâs just like you: A woman whoâs willing to do anything to get what she
wants.â
Phoebe scowled. âHow⦠How dare you talk to me like that? Mom, Dad, Lucas, you all heard what she
said, right? Sheâs finally showing her true colors!â
Cedric and Beatrice exchanged glances. They both thought Corinne was a little hostile today, but
Lucasâ heart went out to her since he understood why she hated Phoebe so much.
Corinne ignored Phoebe. âYesterday, my stepmother brought her husband, daughter, and the mother-
daughter duo who slandered me online to my house. The mother-daughter duo said they had come to
seek justice from the Holdens because I supposedly stole her precious daughterâs university spot and
even accused me of being a high-school sl*t. The Holdens didnât buy their lies, so they turned to the
internet to slander me.
âBut how could two ordinary people who came from the countryside cause this big of a ruckus in such a
short time? Itâs impossible. Not to mention, they did the same thing overseas when their news and
public comments were banned in our country.
âIâm not worried about my reputation being damaged since I knew I didnât do anything wrong. But what
p*sses me off is that they had to involve the Holdens. Not only did the Holden Groupâs shares drop to
the bottom, but the familyâs reputation was dragged through the mud, too.
âSo donât tell me itâs a coincidence Anya just so happened to be at the same park with my stepmother
and her daughter for her to pass them the black leather case containing god-knows-what.â
